Hello,

My advice to you is to stick with APPROVED apparitions. Your video talks about Medjugorie which is NOT approved and is almost certainly false.
Three Bishops Commissions have declared there is no evidence of any supernatural happenings taking place and further have declared the alleged visionaries as fakes. Local Franciscan priests who perpetuate the alleged apparitions as being true have been suspended and cannot say Mass or hear Confession. Because of the controversy the CDF (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) in Rome have become involved (and at some stage will make a final decision). Their first act was to suspend another priest at the center of these apparitions so it looks more likely the final outcome will be in the negative.
Remember God unites and Satan divides. The fruit of these alleged apparitions is great division among the faithful so who do you think they are from??

By the way I have avoided talking about the content of these unapproved apparitions as that is against forum rules.

Again my advice is to focus on apparitions we know to be true because the Church has declared them to be worthy of belief.

This is typical anti-Catholic propaganda put forward by heretical stepchildren of those in protest to the one true faith - The Catholic Church. I noticed that there was quite a lot of bible testimony from Calvary Chapel preachers. These professional propagandists have used select images of Catholics praying in front of statues in a way that makes it appear Catholics are worshipping Mary. They have also used the non-approved apparitions of Medjugorje to sensationalize the message knowing full well that Catholics have spent an enormous amount of time researching this apparition and being cautious about it and finally rejecting it.

This is a recruitment film designed to paint Catholics as idol and Marian worshipers in order to cast doubts and fears in those weak of the faith to come join into the Calvary mega-church franchise. Many poorly catechized Catholics have fallen for this nonsense and done just that.

If we take the recommendations of the speakers in the video at their word to put to the test all spirits speaking as enlightening voices then we should challenge the burning bush on Mt. Horeb. We should challenge the tongues of fire that appear over the heads of the disciples in the upper room. We should challenge St. Paul who by his own admission is a Jew of Hellenistic origin (which had many pagan influences including the mystery religions) and more than likely originally an early gentile-Jewish convert himself. But before we do any of that we should test these druids of contempt for ecclesial authority and apostolic faith. They are plausible liars and teachers of a new-gospel that no apostle would recognize as theirs. These men are just spewing classic mega-church dogma.

The bottom line is who does one trust? Do we trust anonymous talking heads with a new neo-Christian bible-only faith on an anonymous video who have walked the earth at most about 40-50 years or do we trust the teaching authority of the 2000 year old Catholic Church; a church that can trace its history all the way back to Christ’s time and which has persevered through as much persecution?

These people in this video are professional propagandists and will some day pay the price for their damage to Christian Unity and the damage they intend to inflict on Christ’s Church - The Catholic Church.

My personal opinion is ALL apparitions are the work of the adversary…
Anyone else feel this way?

This sounds like something that somone from mars or the adversary would want to tell us.

No! Do you read your bible at all?

Acts 2:17
‘AND IT SHALL BE IN THE LAST DAYS,’ God says, 'THAT I WILL POUR FORTH OF MY SPIRIT ON ALL MANKIND; AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY, AND YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS, AND YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS;

…and Mary is nowhere mentioned…sad you how force the cult of Mary into this verse.

What an infantile comment to make.

The man raised the stakes to all apparitions. How is it that Mary is supposed to be exempted from being a permitted vision in a scripture verse that gives explicit prophesy that these things will happen in the last days??? Show me where Mary is excluded from being a permitted vision in this verse?

You can’t and you just demonstrated you don’t have an objective bone in your body or a logical mind. Which is it?

Would you feel more comfortable if Luther or Calvin and the gang started popping up to all over the globe? 😃

You would fail a fundamental logic course.

I wanted to make sure it would be to your level.

I realize that much of catholic pop-apologetics is based not on what the scriptures say but on what they don’t say (you know…they don’t list any sins of Mary, they don’t say Mary wasn’t assumed into heaven, etc.) and you are right, Mary is not exempted from the particular verse you clumsily quoted in your effort to read all things catholic into the scriptures. However, there is no reason whatsoever to assume that this verse has anything whatsoever to do with Marian apparitions…unless one is desperate to read a preconceived notion into the verse.
You can’t and you just demonstrated you don’t have an objective bone in your body or a logical mind. Which is it?
LOL…you are joking right? You pull a verse out of scriptures that has nothing at all to do with Mary or your rather cult like affection for her and do this in an attempt to somehow justify your beliefs and then accuse me of being illogical? Okay whatever you say
Would you feel more comfortable if Luther or Calvin and the gang started popping up to all over the globe? 😃
No, I wouldn’t but we aren’t talking about Luther or Calvin and the verse you used doesn’t have anything to do with them either.
You would fail a fundamental logic course.
C’mon, you can’t believe the scripture you quoted lends any support for supposed Marian apparitions? Using you logic (or obvious lack thereof) one could use that verse to support the various apparitions to Joseph Smith, Mohammed, etc. Context is important…as is logic and you have illogically quoted the scripture completely out of context.

I wanted to make sure it would be to your level.
Please - can we get to an adult level here?

And this is explains why you engaged me at an infantile level of interaction? OK let’s play your literalistic game. Where does scripture expand on what is permitted by the quoted verse? 😉

For that matter where does scripture say that it is the sole word of God and where does it say “here is what constitutes scripture”?

I know its popular for amateur Protestant apologists to resolve all arguments to a sola scriptura framework but don’t you realize that its been defeated for centuries?

Prove to me that that verse has nothing to do with Mary. Do you claim Mary had nothing to do with Jesus and his mission on earth? Or do you imagine to know a-priori what revelations, prophesies and visions that the apostles were talking about? Do you have a crystal ball or a private hot line to God?

I think you are self-contradictory.

So you admit the idea of Luther or Calvin or anyone that had anything to do with the Protestant Revolution appearing in the last days are unimportant to our salvation? Where they ever relevant or important? Who developed the doctrine of sola scriptura if it was never mentioned in the bible nor is there any history of it ever being a principal in the Early Church? You do know that the bible came around 350 years after the apostles all died don’t you and it was the Catholic Church who put it together?

It lends support to anything God wants to reveal in visions.

One could attempt to use this to justify the false prophets that you mention but we know that false apparitions would have contradictory messages to the apostolic teaching - teaching that comes to us from The Catholic Church - some of which is written in the Catholic Bible. Do you use a real bible for scripture or do you have the Protestant book that is a tithe lite? 😉

I agree that context is important and that’s why its critical that you have the the right book to start with and the apostolic teaching that goes with it. Do you?

You need to have two adults…we are apparently two adults shy.
And this is explains why you engaged me at an infantile level of interaction? OK let’s play your literalistic game. Where does scripture expand on what is permitted by the quoted verse? 😉
You have apparently missed my point completely. You used a verse which has nothing to do with Mary to support the legitimacy of Marian apparitions.
For that matter where does scripture say that it is the sole word of God and where does it say “here is what constitutes scripture”?

We aren’t discussing sola scriptura and were I Catholic, my point would still stand. There is nothing Marian in the surrounding text.

Or do you imagine to know a-priori what revelations, prophesies and visions that the apostles were talking about? Do you have a crystal ball or a private hot line to God?
I am pretty sure we have already covered this a couple of times but here goes…the verse doesn’t exempt Mary, nor is there any reason to assume that she would be part of a vision considering there is nothing about Mary in the context. Context is important ya know?
So you admit the idea of Luther or Calvin or anyone that had anything to do with the Protestant Revolution appearing in the last days are unimportant to our salvation? What on earth are you talking about? Luther, Calvin, the Reformation, sola scriptura, history of the canon…none of this has anything to do with our discussion. The fact is that you took a verse way, way, way out of context to prove a point and this has nothing to do with the many topics you are seemingly trying to interject into the discussion.
It lends support to anything God wants to reveal in visions.
Okay, we agree at least on this.
One could attempt to use this to justify the false prophets that you mention but we know that false apparitions would have contradictory messages to the apostolic teaching - teaching that comes to us from The Catholic Church - some of which is written in the Catholic Bible. Yes, I realize that you believe that a few more books are inspired than I do but I don’t think any of the books you call the deutero’s will lend any help to you in establishing the verse from Acts is somehow useful in establishing the legitimacy of Marian apparitions.
I agree that context is important and that’s why its critical that you have the the right book to start with and the apostolic teaching that goes with it. Do you?

James
I’m sure you realize the verse you quoted from is in the book of Acts…common to both protestant and catholic canons…right?
