I have a particularly strong devotion to our Blessed Mother, she played a huge role in my conversion process. Therefore I would love to take Mary as my confirmation saint, I was wondering does anyone know if there are any male marian names that I could take? I know that many male Saints such as St Louis de Montfort and Maximillian Kolbe used the middle name Mary but I just wanted to see if there were perhaps other options.

Thanks and God bless.

It’s perfectly acceptable for a Catholic boy to have Mary or Maria as a middle name (think Josemaria Escriva or Joseph Mary Plunkett). If you’re set on using a male name, you could choose Mario. Marian is also a gender-neutral name.

I cannot remember the religious order of men (a branch of Franciscans perhaps) that take/add Mary to their name when they make their vows.

You mentioned two strong ones you could use- Maximilian (the reason for my handle) and De Montfort.
Additionally, John Paul II or Jerzy (for Jersy Populesko- look him up) are two other male saints that were devoted to Mary.

Also, Mary just comes from Maria, which in turn comes from the classical Latin praenomen Marius, so you could call yourself Marius

EWTN’s own Father Joseph Mary Wolf does it. I see no problem, either.
