So I just finished doing the 33 days of Marian consecration and was wondering if it mattered whether I wore an iron bracelet or any other kind of metal bracelet. Thanks for any kind of help!

You don’t have to practice any particular devotion. Indeed, devotions are meant to be aids to faith not burdens to be borne. It’s entirely up to you if you want to wear a bracelet or not. 🙂

You could wear one as a reminder of your slavery to the Blessed Mother, but it isn’t necessary. I don’t wear one since I already wear a watch & crucifix.

Why would it matter one way or another?

It’s because St. Louis mentions only an iron chain, if I can remember the book correctly.

I suppose one could wear whichever type of metal, but iron is more suited to slaves (as opposed to gold or silver) so I think that’s why St. Louis mentioned that type.

I think what St. Louis deMontfort meant that it should be as a reminder to us and not a form of fashion, thus his stating it could be of iron or the like, not shiny and attracting attention like jewelry.

Believe it or not, I have made a bracelet from part of a long chain that normally hangs from our ceiling fan (that changes the speed). NO ONE has ever commented on it as it is not an obviously pretty chain, but one that is a reminder MOST precious to me!

Peace.
