Marian Consecration

Iv’e just been learning about Marian Consecration. I was just wondering more about it. Why not just be consecrated to Jesus? Not that I dont think its a good thing to do im just asking questions because I dont know much about it. Has anyone done this? Did you do or feel something different after?

Also im learning about the Divine Mercy chaplet. Is it ok to say it for someone in particular so that you can plead to God for mercy upon them? This seems like a very powerful prayer weapon in our battle.

I haven’t done Marian Consecration myself so can’t help with that, but for Divine Mercy chaplet, although the prayers extend to “the whole world”, it is often said for the sick and/or dying and can be said especially for a particular person in that situation. thedivinemercy.org/eadm/praying.php

It seems reasonable that if you have a specific sick, dying or already deceased person in mind for Divine Mercy you could say to the Lord when you start that you are dedicating this prayer especially for so-and-so and then keep them in mind throughout.

The Rosary is also a very powerful prayer to say for anyone in need of help including deceased persons. I usually try to say both a Rosary and a Divine Mercy.

Either one is great, however, many of us consecrated to the Blessed Mother feel that we are not worthy to go straight to God. We ask the Blessed Mother to bring us to Him. We follow her to Jesus, either way the ultimate end remains the same, God! Do a little research, read what the Saints have said about the Blessed Mother, see if a Marian devotion is right for you!

I personally practice a devotion to St Michael, I say the Divine Mercy chaplet and novena pretty much every day, and I also do the St Louis de Montfort total devotion to Mary, which includes multiple things including the Rosary and several other prayers. Finally, though it is not a devotion, I also say the 15 prayers of St Bridget daily.

What I am trying to get across is that you can do any one or any combination. It depends on you! Whatever brings you closer to God. I am retired so I have lots of time on my hands…lol!!!

Confession Communion prayer every First Saturday for 5 months . Its great to couple with First Fridays to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The purpose of Marian Consecration is to bring us closer to Jesus. Our Blessed Mother knows Him so well and, as I see it, she takes me by the hand and leads me closer to Him. Over the years I have made the De Montfort consecration several times, and also, recently the “33 Days to Morning Glory” consecration.

Yes, you can certainly pray the Divine Mercy chaplet for someone in particular…

Two things.
We don’t need to do 30 or 33 days . Our Lady at Fatima requests 5 First Saturdays. The purpose is Reparation. entrusting ourselves / our Rosaries to Our Lady in the spiritual battle, helping her crush that serpent.

The Marian Movement of Priests has Marian consecration that is a prayer. Again the purposes are the spiritual battle, and imitating The Blessed Virgin, and her intercession in guiding us to God, to holiness.

You can have a devotion to The Sacred Heart of Jesus, and Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Devotion to the Sacred Heart, focuses on Jesus divinity and His Love for mankind.

The immaculate Heart focuses on the love Mary has for Jesus., as with any Marian devotion.

As for Divine Mercy chaplet, you can say this on behalf of others…you are also asking for Mercy for the whole world in the prayer too.

You should not be hesitant to pray, if you feel your prayer is not the perfect one…just pray and be at peace.

Yes, as Pope Leo 13 said, just as nobody can go to the Father except through Jesus, so nobody can go to Jesus except through Mary.

Here is something Pope Pius 10 says:

“13. It cannot, of course, be denied that the dispensation of these treasures is the particular and peculiar right of Jesus Christ, for they are the exclusive fruit of His Death, who by His nature is the mediator between God and man. Nevertheless, by this companionship in sorrow and suffering already mentioned between the Mother and the Son, it has been allowed to the august Virgin to be the most powerful mediatrix and advocate of the whole world with her Divine Son (Pius IX. The Marian Consecration is properly called the Consecration to Jesus through Mary.
