Are the Marian dogmas required beliefs for converts to Orthdoxy?
Does anyone know if they are for Oriental Orthodoxy as well?
I suppose I could find a Orthodox forum but this is home:D

Could you please list the ‘Marian dogmas’ and explain them?

Long time no see, Brian! Welcome back. I’ll wait until your reply to Michael to add something.

The Orthodox do refer to Mary as the God-bearer or Theotokos, so yes, the Divine Motherhood is a required belief in both Churches. The Orthodox believe that Mary was a perpetual virgin. The Orthodox have a more defined view of the Assumption. We believe that Mary died and was then assumed into heaven (called the Dormition). Although not strictly defined as a dogma, as part of the Tradition (it is a feast day), it is basically a required belief. The Orthodox do not typically believe in the Immaculate Conception. For most Orthodox, the belief is that Mary was born as a regular human with no wiping away of the stain of original sin.
