Since this Sunday is March 25th, it is the Fifth Sunday of Lent, and the solemnity of the Annunciation has moved to Monday March 26. So…

Is it appropriate to sing a marian hymn on Sunday since Annunciation isn’t a holy day and most people won’t be at daily mass the next day?

Is my rationalization even necessary, i.e. are there liturgical norms when marian hymns are or are not appropriate?

Since Sundays of Lent take precedence over any solemnity that occurs I don’t think it is appropriate. I don’t think it is appropriate unless you sing the Stabat Mater, but then that is really a song for Good Friday or stations of the cross.

I can’t see how there could be any problem in singing a hymn to Our Lady as a recessional hymn . By it you can be seeking her help during Lent .
