Does anyone know if a Marine Corp recruit in training is allowed to wear a crucifix on a chain?
In Air Force basic training, I was not. But after BMTS it is allowed.Does anyone know if a Marine Corp recruit in training is allowed to wear a crucifix on a chain?
No he isn’t. God forgives our mistakes.… The drill sergeant is GOD during basic.
He’s not my son but a young man whom were are close too. The website is excellent, very helpful. I will pass it on to his family. Thanks!grandiosa has it right. It’s technically allowed, but if the Drill Sargeant says no, then no it is.
If your son or daughter is planning on becoming a Marine, and you have additional questions, the website MarineParents.com was very helpful to our family when my brother was going through Boot Camp training. They are very helpful and supportive in their forums.
I went through AF basic back in 06, and we were aloud to wear them, but we had to tuck them into our shirts where they could not be seen.In Air Force basic training, I was not. But after BMTS it is allowed.
Of course, as my Air Force son-in-law once explained to my Marine daughter and son-in-law, “we aren’t really military – we are very well trained civilians!”I went through AF basic back in 06, and we were aloud to wear them, but we had to tuck them into our shirts where they could not be seen.
Short answer: If the drill sergeant says it is allowed, it is. If s/he says it is not, it’s not. That’s really the only answer needed. The drill sergeant is GOD during basic.
While I agree AF is a bit easier to deal w/ than other branches in some respects… it is still military and still difficult.Of course, as my Air Force son-in-law once explained to my Marine daughter and son-in-law, “we aren’t really military – we are very well trained civilians!”
Grandiosa has it right . . .
Please know I appreciate the hard efforts of all the branches equally and would never have passed on that quote had it not been my Airman who said it about himself. (Had one of the Marines said it about the Air Force we would have all beat on him or her!) I’m sorry if it sounded disrespectful. *Mea culpa . . . *While I agree AF is a bit easier to deal w/ than other branches in some respects… it is still military and still difficult.

I was at Lackland 20 years earlier. My TI said no. I didn’t argue.I went through AF basic back in 06, and we were aloud to wear them, but we had to tuck them into our shirts where they could not be seen.
Haha, reminds me of Full Metal Jacket: “You can give your heart to Jesus, but your a** belongs to me!”No he isn’t. God forgives our mistakes.![]()
