Marital relations after hysterectomy

My wife had a hysterectomy for medical reasons.

Her ovaries and cervix were left intact.

Is it morally permissible to resume relations when her Dr gives the okay? I am worried about conception without a chance of implantation being immoral.

Usually they do total hysterectomy because there is no point in leaving behind the ovaries. In your wife case,though unusual, she nevertheless will not get pregnant without the uterus.

You should not worry about marital relation as there is nothing you can do, which is beyond your control. Besides, the operation was due to medical reason, so both of you should not feel guilty about it.

Marital relation should not be affected due to hysterectomy and should go on as usual. Not sure whther she has to undergo hormone therapy though since she still has her ovaries. Anyway, all the best to both of you.

They left behind the ovaries to help her hormonally I think.

We don’t feel guilty at all about the procedure as she had placental acreta which is scary.

I believe this info is incorrect. The ovaries are often left in if they are healthy. Hormones produced by the woman’s own ovaries are more beneficial than synthetic hormones.

As for the OP, there’s no moral reason that I’m aware of to need to abstain, provided she’s sufficiently healed.

I hope she’s doing well. I’ve heard of that condition and I understand it is scary. I hope you knew in advance so it wasn’t a surprise at the delivery. Hope baby is doing well.

We are doing well. Baby is home and growing.

We did know ahead of time. Met with a high risk doctor who did the ultrasound to confirm. There was a lot of people in that delivery room.

They thought it was localized and weren’t 100% sure but it turns out it was quite bad and trying to remove the placenta wild have caused severe bleeding. Some nurses after remarked how interesting my wife uterus was!

I could not imagine if this was an emergency what would have happened. Ladies, get your ultrasounds especially if you have had multiple sections! The risk really goes up at 4, this was her fourth.
