Hm! I guess we disagree. I like to think that the Church is open to honest discussion and treats those who have doubts and/or diverse opinions with respect and not condemn them to hell. This is the very intolerance that troubles me. Frankly, I believe Christ set us an example when he cited despised Samaritans as his heroes and ate with detested publicans and sinners.

There are many - millions upon millions - who hold on to their faith by a thread. They are honest, moral people who want to believe but have difficulty saluting and no more. If they have no place within Catholicism, if their concerns are not permitted to be examined and discussed in the spirit of I Cor. 13, let the Church automatically excommunicate all those who are assailed as 'cafeteria Catholics' because they have questions or feel the need to raise issues of importance to them.

Is it Matt. 7:1-2? Yes. I think it is. I'll let Christ do the judging. "His mercy endureth forever."

I never condemned asking questions, I am simply telling you what the Church teaches and it is a mortal sin, so I was letting the poster know, it is a sin, a mortal one and if he has full knowledge, sufficient reflection, and full consent of the will, (which only God knows) he CAN go to hell. Thats not for me to judge, but for God, but obviously I am not going to let my brother or sister in Christ walk in blind ignorance to the Faith, he asked for councel, and wants to know the truth, and I told him. If you or someone else doesn’t like that than unfortunately, that is not my problem, thats yours. St Jerome said ignorance of scripture is ignorance of Christ and the Holy Church interprets scripture, not you or I. We look to the Faith for the answers. They are the ones to interpret scripture, read what the holy fathers have always taught about contraception, from the very begining way before Pope Paul XI ever wrote Humane Vitae…this has been the Churches teachings on contraception from the very beginging it has never changed.
