I was appalled! I read Scripture for devotional purposes usually and often use a parallel NT with Rheims, RSV-CE, NAB, NRSV, JB, NJB, GNT, and Christian Comm. Bible. Today I was reading Mark 6:45-52 in the various translations when I saw that the last four translations that I mentioned (above) equated hardness of heart with having a closed mind.
I realize that the two states often go together, but they are very, very different! The heart with it’s ability for empathy or not, to me, is quite separate from a purely intellectual exercise. Do you agree with this also? Is this a male/female difference (and if so we really need some female Scriptural translators)?
