Hi Ceaseless,
HUH?
So are you telling me that there are people walking around that are 1,000+ years old?
You seem to be assuming that this passage refers to the end of the world. In Matthew 10, 7, while Jesus gives direction on how to preach the gospel, he says :
On your way, proclaim that the Kingdom of Heaven is near
The Kingdom of Heaven starts with Jesus’ mission which is essentially his redemptive passion followed by the resurrection. Now see how St. Paul sees the resurrection :
Certainly, he was crucified because of his weakness, but He is alive through the power of God.
2Cor 13,4
For St. Paul, the resurrection is the supreme manifestation of the power of God, and the resurrection is the foundation of our faith. You will note that right after the passage that you quote, the evangelist goes into the Transfiguration, where Jesus is glorified in a way before his time, thus announcing the resurrection that will follow his passion.
The Kingdom of God will reach its ultimate realization on the day of the Universal Resurrecion, where the power of God will be manifested in each one of us.
