Curious few verses I just came across and wanted to know your (name removed by moderator)ut…
Dont these verses also support the papacy? Though it doesn’t suggest the who, it does suggest that someone is suppose to be the “head” apostle
Mark 9:33-35
First two verses… Jesus hears the apostles arguing about who is the greatest apostle.
This is important because it indicates even the apostles thought that there should be a head. If the apostles never thought that someone should be head, why even argue about it
35 - Jesus’s response. Jesus didn’t respond with a “there shouldn’t be in anyone in charge” or “Each of you are equal” or even “Each of you should be able to determine what is truth if you follow the scriptures, and therefore all equal” this was a perfect chance to rebuke the idea of someone being in charge. Keep in mind, he’s God, he knew there would be a Catholic Church so he knew the largest single “denomination” would claim that there is suppose to be a head. Perfect chance to nip that in the bud if he didn’t want that…
No… Instead, he says… “Who ever shall be the greatest, shall be the least and the servant to all…”
Isn’t that the Job description of the pope?
Though he is the head, his job is to be the humblest SERVANT of the church…
Just a thought
