I apologise if this thread has been brought up several times, but I’m still puzzled. Is the Mark of the Beast as mentioned in Revelation supposed to be symbolic or is it a micro chip? Or will we never know?

What is the real mark of the devil? Sacred Scripture
Revelation 13:17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. No one knows exactly what the mark will be. We do know that it will be: Economically important Tangible to some degree People have proposed Barcodes, tattoos, RFID chips, and brandings as the possible mark. However, this debate is largely pointless as the Antichrist won’t arrive for some time.

What makes you say that the Antichrist will not arrive for some time?

The Antichrist doesn’t magically appear. No, there are many events that precede his arrival.
 
If the Antichrist isn’t arriving anytime soon, I assume the Mark may be technologically based, considering how fast technology is advancing. But I’m not gonna jump to any conclusions yet.

One has to understand that the number 666 is rooted in the Old Testament; 1 Kings 10:14 specifically speaks of King Solomon’s rule and authority, and how the weight of gold which had to be paid as tribute to the king every year was six hundred and sixty six talents of gold. In Revelation 13:17 it describes how nations will not be able to buy or sell unless they have the mark of the beast, which one can assume is the eventual centralized one-world government authority presumably led by the antichrist, and the obeyance that will be required for those who wish to avoid hardship and persecution in those days of tribulation. ‘
It’s only a matter of time for currency and trade to be a completely electronic transaction, and it’s not hard to imagine a day when employment itself will be dependent upon not having any affiliation to any beliefs the government does not approve of. Even today just merely supporting traditional marriage or having an opinion against “a woman’s right to choose” can make you a complete outcast.
 
In the Book of Genesis, the first man and woman were forbidden by God to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. " for in the day that you eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil you will die "
thats an absolute prohibition with no escape clause. Of course we know that they did, in fact eat of the forbidden fruit.
The parallel to this prohibition given to us in the New Testament is ’ the mark of the beast’ outlined in Rev. 13 : 16,17 It also has dire consequences for those who disobey.
These consequences are worse than those on the book of Genesis which brought about the death of the body. The Second death which results in ‘taking the mark ’ will be the death of the soul ( no hope of reprieve ) Rev: 14, 9-11
People have speculated that our current technology is attempting to take mankind in that direction As people become more and more addicted to technology ( cell phones etc. ) the modern frankenstein companies are preparing the next phase which is getting a chip into peoples’ bodies . Eventually the human person will become a computer terminal and cease to be autonomous. Hence it would be impossible for the compromised human to ever be saved. Mission accomplished ! from Satan’s perspective .
 
The whole Mark of the Beast micro chip thing is very recent Protestant thought. For centuries, God sent prophets, and did any of them predict some type of technological insertion under your skin?

Furthermore, you need to remember that a great number of Catholics are in very poor areas where such a technology isn’t available yet. I doubt that any Catholics in sub-Saharan Africa would assume that the Mark of the Beast is some kind of micro chip or other technology.

It is very current Western thought to put these two things together. And quite goofy, to be honest.
 
The Third world is catching up in technology. According to Frederik Jejdling , (Sub Sahara Africa’s head of Swedish Tech. Co. Ericcson } We have seen the trend emerging over a few years, but in the past twelve months the digital traffic has increased over 100% , forcing us to revise our predictions. Mobile phone users have shown a preference for using their device for a variety of activities that are normally performed on laptop or desktop - including mobile banking, healthcare etc This is true in Nigeria, S. Africa, Kenya, Congo. Ghana etc.

Rev.14:9 " If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives a mark upon his forehead or upon his hand , he also shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God which is poured unmixed into the cup of his wrath . " etc.
 
Many think it’s come and gone. There are as many opinions about this as there are armpits. Everyone probably has a couple. I don’t believe we’ll ever really understand it while we remain on this earth. Personally, I think anyone who can make good use of the brain God gave him need not worry.

True. According to the Preterist interpretation of Revelation, the mark is symbolic of the curse of the ungodly who persecute Christians under the Roman Empire, and the number of the beast is Nero, the Emperor.
 
A typical case of unnecessarily making simple things said in the Bible as complicated and making confusion!
How clearly and plainly it is said that the.mark of the beast is 666.!
Thats all.Just check at that time whether this number is marked on you with your permission.You are doomed.The matter is so simple. Don’t try to complicate which is Devil’s work.

I don’t understand what you mean.
Do you mean you’re doomed if you buy a lottery ticket with a randomly generated number that comes up as 666? Or if there’s a 666 on your car’s license plate?
There’s a 666 in the Catechism.
666 Jesus Christ, the head of the Church, precedes us into the Father’s glorious kingdom so that we, the members of his Body, may live in the hope of one day being with him for ever.
