In September there was another false End of the World prediction that, like the others, came and went.

Mark 13:7-8 (non-Catholic Bible) says: 7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled for such things must happen, but the end is not yet.
8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.

My question is this: These things have been happening since the time of Christ and before then, correct?

Yep. That’s the point: Christ isn’t telling us to look for something that will be unique and recognizable. He’s just telling us “be ready”.

If your take on eschatology is all about interpreting “signs” and “prophecies”, and not centered on Christ, then you’re missing the boat.

Look down to v.14 “When you see the desolating abomination standing where he should not (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,

I think that’s the sign. But I have no idea what that might be.

Did you notice that it wasn’t a Catholic making that prediction?

In other words, these are not signs of the end.

8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.

Let’s correlate with another Scripture:

Romans 8:22 We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; 23 and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in hope we were saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance.

So, the world is bound in suffering, until we are made free by Jesus Christ. We still hope for that.

But read to the end of the Chapter:
Need for Watchfulness. 32 “But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. 34 It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch. 35 Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning. 36 May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. 37 What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”
