Maronite Catholic Bible?

Hi All,
Just wanting some advise. I am going to be pursuing Ordination for SubDeacon in the Maronite Rite. Now, i am new to this I was raised VERY strict Irish/R Catholic.The Maronite Rite has help me find My calling. I am in need of a good answer (proir to talking to Abouna) What is a Proper Maronite Catholic Bible in english??

The usual douay rheims or other approved catholic bible (bible is constant throughout the church) is used or if you want to be more traditional the Syriac “Peshitta” is used or a translation of it.

Well … the Pshitta is the “official” version, but the only time the Pshitta is used is in the incredibly rare case where readings are actually done in Syriac. These days, the Pshitta is never used in translation in any language.

In Arabic, the “official” version was the so-called “Jesuit Bible” (1888), and prior to that, an Arabic translation of the Pshitta was used. However, since the release of the “new lectionary” some years back, what is used is one or another (I don’t remember which one it is and I really don’t care) of the awful modern Arabic translations.

In English, the official lectionary is based on the same version of the NAB that the Latins use.

Correction - only the Americans use the NAB. Other English speaking Latins use the Jerusalem Bible (much better) or the Revised Standard Version: Catholic Edition.
