Do Maronites have a version of the rosary? Did Saint Maroun have special prayers to the Theotokos? I know Maronites have more similarities to Romans than Byzantines so maybe they just use the Roman rosary?
Thanks for all your help!

Maronite laity will use the western Rosary beads as will clergy and monastics.

Although I’ve come across some monastics/clergy who will use Eastern prayer ropes.

Nothing specifically “Maronite” about any of that.

I was once at an Armenian Orthodox Cathedral and noticed many cars in the parking lot sporting RC rosaries on their rear-view windows. In fact, all of them did (had to walk up and down all the rows just to satisfy my sociological curiosity).

I think a good working hypothesis is that where Eastern Christians have not had the experience of being forcibly Latinized, they are much less reticent about voluntarily borrowing from the Latin Church.

If there is some sort of rosary/prayer rope that is specific to the Maronites, I would love to hear about it… I’m always open to a new project. 😃

Sorry, Phillip … as Alex alluded to earlier, there ain’t no such animal. AFAIK, the same applies to the Chaldeans and Syro-Malabars, and probably also to the Syriacs (although I’m not sure about SOC or Syro-Malankara custom in this area).

For the Maronites, at least, it’s primarily the standard Latin-style rosary, although an occasional Byzantine-style prayer rope can be seen.
