Please pray for my family. My husband, who is being treated for depression, has been unemployed for three months without any interviews. This is his third bout of unemployment in 4 years. He is emotionally distant from our young son and is not an active parent.

Please pray that our family can be like the Holy Family, and that my husband can find well paying, stable work while becoming a more loving, engaged father.

Thank you! God bless!

Praying to St. Dymphna for your husband’s health & recovery & to St. Joseph for him to secure employment. Praying for the intentions of your family.

I am sorry to hear your husband is struggling with depression. I am happy he is being treated and hope that soon he is well enough to work and be engaged with your son.
Depression is hard on an entire family and I will pray for you as well for strength to deal with his illness as necessary.

May God bless your family abundantly with improved circumstances.

Mary.

PATER NOSTER,
qui es in caelis,
sanctificetur nomen tuum.
Adveniat regnum tuum.
Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.
Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie,
et dimitte nobis debita nostra
sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.
Et ne nos inducas in tentationem,
sed libera nos a malo. Amen.

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to their assistance.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Prayer to St. Anthony for Employment

Blessed St. Anthony, who in life was ever mindful
of the needs of the afflicted, consuming himself
in the service of God and for the good of souls,
who was the enemy of idleness and a tireless worker
in the vineyard of the Lord, beseech God to grant
alphawoman’s husband a suitable job, which may procure for him
and his family a decent livelihood, and be at the same time
a means of personal sanctification and of real service to others.
We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord, amen.

Prayer for Family

Heavenly Father, Please shine your light upon this family. Give them strength to overcome all of the difficulties that they are dealing with now and protect them against any and all problems they may encounter in the future. O Lord, please bring them together as they are meant to be. May the love that binds them only grow stronger as they fulfill the destiny you have laid out for them.

Grant this family forgiveness for any sins they have committed. May they also forgive one another Lord, as it is sometimes difficult to do.

Through Christ Our Lord, amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Prayer to St. Joseph for the Unemployed

O Saint Joseph, we pray to you for those who are out of work, for those who want to earn their living or support their families.

You who are the patron of workers; grant that unemployment may vanish from our ranks; that all those who are ready to work may put their strength and abilities in serving their fellowmen and earn a just salary.

You are the patron of families; do not let those who have children to support and raise lack the necessary means. Have pity on our brothers and sisters held down in unemployment and poverty because of sickness or social disorders. Help our political leaders and captains of industry find new and just solutions. May each and every one have the joy of contributing, according to his abilities, to the common prosperity by an honorable livelihood. Grant that we may all share together in the abundant goods God has given us and that we may help underprivileged countries. Amen.

*O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendor of Heaven, who brought forth the Son of God still remaining a Virgin, assist us in this necessity. O Star of the Sea, help us, and show us that you are our Mother.

O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and earth, we humbly ask you from the depths of our heart to help us in this necessity. There are none who can withstand your power. O show us that you are our Mother.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.

Sweet Mother, we place this cause in your hands. Amen*

Just an update to thank you for your prayers! I’m so grateful for your generous charity! They are working!!!

DH attended an annual physical I scheduled for him and has increased his medication dose to good effect. He is also beginning a group counselling program that he had previously balked at, stating that he thinks he could learn from others. That is HUGE!

In a moment of frustration at my husband’s lack of effort in searching for work, I scanned job postings for my own field, without the intention to apply for any positions. One job turned up that perfectly aligns with my expertise and interests, which sounded genuinely exciting, and so I decided to apply. Fast forward 6 weeks, and I am attending a second round interview tomorrow, knowing I am either the final candidate or one of two.

In response to my application process, my husband has shown tremendous support. He has had an about-face turn for the last month in his contributions to our household; making meals, doing laundry, cleaning our home. He is playing with our son in a wonderfully engaged way, eagerly helping with homeschooling and play, reading stories, playing sports, going on outings for guys’ brunch and play dates at the park. It is honestly the closest I have ever seen the two of them. I would still like to see him put down his electronic devices more often, but he has improved dramatically and I pray that the change continues.

My husband has said that he wants me to feel completely comfortable with being away from our son during the day while I work, as he knows how little I want to leave our son, and he said that he wants to prove that he can be “an excellent house husband and father”, and has vowed to parent DS in a way that would make me proud. He has agreed to take over homeschooling for the year, with the aim of DH returning to work in one year, with him pursuing work wholeheartedly. Based on what I’ve seen of DH’s behaviour last month, I would be comfortable returning to work and believe DS would be completely happy and well taken care of.
