My fiance and I are 44 years of age. I am experiencing the “pre meno pause”. There are reasons for us not to conceive, once we are married. We are both of a strong believe though, that there will be other ways in which our marriage may become fertile.

Is there any couple out there in a comparable situation? And how have you found your way in natural birth control methods?

(And for those who are merely nosy: I am not going to elaborate on our reasons for not planning for a family!)

The modern forms of Natural Family Planning have peri-menopause guidelines. I would suggest you look at various methods, talk to some instructors, and find the method that best fits your situation.

If it were me, I would look at Marquette and Creighton.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is encouraging that you still recommend NFP despite the peri-menopause element I referred to in my original post. I am under the impression (after a quick scan of the internet) that the Marquette courses are in particular regionally taught. Courses on the Creighton method, though, are available in a great range of countries, including mine. So far the fact that the website in my country does not include any reference to the peri-menopausal element, has put me off. Perhaps it is time to become courageous and get into contact with one of the counsellors…

That thought caught my eye. What do you mean by a “marriage becoming fertile”?

Fertile or fruitful – not in a literal or biological sense but in a broader sense, so for instance by helping others/serving the community etc.

All methods can be used in perimenopause, but Creighton’s yellow stickers “essential sameness” may be very helpful, it has been to me.

Also be prepared for extended abstinence, signs become erratic and may call for additional abstaining.

Most methods have remote instruction options over the internet.

As @1ke says, internet/skype sort of instruction is available.

If you want to go with temp, I am not sure which devices are available in what countries, but, the Daysy has been getting some buzz.
