My husband and I were married about a year and a half ago outside of the church. We did this for several reasons, one being because his family is not Catholic and we did not want to make any one uncomfortable. I have been raised Catholic and have recently gotten Confirmed. My husband has no issues with the Catholic church, he attends Mass with me several times a month (we don’t always make it every week) and we have even Baptised our son. I have been finding myself being drawn more and more to the church and our practices and want to become even more involved. My greatest inspiration is my growing family and wanting to raise them the best way I know how.
I would like to have our marriage blessed by the church, but I am not sure if it can be done since my husband is not Catholic (he has been Baptised in a Christian church). I love the parish we attend, but I am afraid if I start asking questions they will begin to pressure my husband into converting to Catholism, and that is just not something he is ready to do at this time. He has said that he would like to down the road, for our children if nothing else, but at this time, he is enjoying just coming to Mass and learning.
Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
