In Islam it’s literally a contract with all what an earthy contract means, while in Christianity it’s a covenant with all what a heavenly covenant means.

Why that much difference if they were truly from the same GOD?

Obviously one of them did not get it right. Perhaps there was a technical interterence when the message reached the messenger and that somehow it got botched up.

It shows the difference between Islam`s view of women and marriage/ownership, and the true Chistian view of the sacredness of Woman and the sacredness of Marriage - a reflection of the inner Life of the Blessed Trinity, and the beauty and fruitfulness of the lifelong one-flesh union of husband and wife.

Sure: both Christianity and Islam are monotheistic, but the similarity just about ends after that.
Allah is Master, and Muslims are his slaves.
God is Father, and we (when baptised) are His children. We have a mother, as well!
Take your pick!

I agree…👍

what about giving us what the bible says about marriage in christianity
and in the other hand what the quran says about marriage in islam

hence i can give you clear insight for my openion .

In Christianity:
(Matthew 19:5-6)

and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

**
In Islam:**
(Quran 4:3)

Notice the word فَانْكِحُوا it DOES NOT mean even marry !!!, if it means marry then that shall be written فتزوجوا, the Arabic word written in Quran is even less than marriage (you are an Arabic speaking person and you know what I mean ;)…).

Sam , firstly you didn’t answer my question

you said that marriage in Islam is a contract with all what an earthy contract means, while in Christianity it’s a covenant with all what a heavenly covenant means

instead of clearing out for me the differences between marriage in islam and in christianity , you calim that this verse in quran dosn’t mean marry

if you think that this verse not talking about marriage then why you quoting it .
you are talking about marriage in islam then bring for me the verses which talking about marriage

my second question
what do you think this verse talking about , if it wasn’t about marriage , what then ?
are you suggest that this verse encourage muslims to commit adultery ?

thirdly , if you have the courage to translate the defination of this word نكاح then be my guest

it’s meaning is marriage , if you have doubts then tell me what it means in your openion

God is Father, and we (when baptised) are His children. We have a mother, as well!
sorry but i cant see how this can be monotheism,i just cant

Come on elwill, you know that it is taking about marriage, but the word used is a low level word…

would you use that word when asking for marriage…
will you say I want to انكحكى instead of اتزوجكى…

I guess there is no English word to translate that low level word…

So bosnian sister, what is your opinion here, if there was that covenant concept in Islam then would you like to be married based on a covenant or based on a contract, in another words, one mate for life or you don’t mind your husband marrying four…

give me clear differences between the two words
how using of this word " نكاح" is a low level word
and what is your sources for this view
and if it was your personal view , then is there any arabs agrees with you ?

it will lead me to ask you another question
what is the contract and what is the convenant ?

seems to me from your words that convenant means marry one while contract means marry more than one !
is that correct definations for these words ?

is that mean that as long as muslims marrys one then his marriage based on convenant , and once he marry the second wife , his marriage will be based on contract !

exuse me for my misunderstanding , i’m very confused

Do you hear people saying it when asking the father for his daughter’s hand…

Yes, as far as I know there is at least one Arabic person from your country agrees on that, Google that low level Arabic word and the name Zakaria Botros…

there are many words used 1400 yeas ago which not used in our modern days .
i think it happens with every languge , the evolution of languge is a normal fact . but i don’t feel any offenses when i hear this word , nor our women feel any offenses when they read it in quran

i see you didn’t translate the meaning of the word “نكاح” which i posted in arabic above , and i see you didn’t even show any objection for it .

Sam , i dont’ know what is wrong with this word .

Zakaria Botros
now i convinced 👍

thank you for your time Sam

That word is more sexual oriented 😊, so it’s inappropriate to translate…
This is a link about that word which points both sides of the story…

what about my original question

why you called marriage in islam as a contract , while called marriage in christianity as a covenant ?
is the polygomy your main issue here ?

Those are well known principles, here is a link about marriage contract in Islam, and this one about marriage covenant in Christianity.

It’s one of the the issues, I totally reject polygamy…

Been away from Islam thread for a while but what about divorce? That looks like a contract. What about the temporary marriage so that the man can have sex with the woman and then divorce the next morning? Look like a contract.

Covenant does not change but one can terminate a contract or it can expire or it can be disolved by mutual consent or it can be rendered null and void if one party contravenes his part of the agreement in the contract.

your link says
Covenant as defined by the Scriptures is a solemn and binding relationship which is meant to last a life time.

can i understand from that , that the only difference between covenant and contract is that if divorce is allowed then it’s contract
and if divorce prohibited then it’s covenant ?

if you didn’t know yet what is the position of temporary marriage in islam then read in these links

islamawareness.net/Marriage/Mutah/

as for divorce it’s allowed in islam and not allowed in you beliefs

should the thread talking about the divorce then , and make it more simple discussion !
