Marriage dispensation from form

Is there a rubric that Bishops use while deciding to grant a dispensation from form for a marriage between a Catholic and a Protestant? Is so, what are the necessary criterion for such a dispensation? (ie, what situation(s) might warrant or be required for a dispensation?)

I’ve seen this form or a similar one used. Each diocese would have its own form and process for communicating the petition from the parish to the bishop.

Keep in mind this is one bishop’s form. Another bishop may handle it differently or have different criteria. The canon law criteria found in 1127 leaves much pastoral latitude.

My wife and I had a similar form. She also had to write a letter to the bishop in order for us to have the wedding at our outside location. It all worked out!
