Hi everyone - Just curious, if the Eastern Catholics, like the Romans, do not recognize divorce (so a divorced person would need an annulment to enter the Church…also, is the teaching on sexuality the same (believing the same sex relations are disordered)…I know these can be explosive topics, so just to clarify, Im not looking for a debate at all - just “facts”, lol.

Thanks!

We agree with the Roman Catholics on morality. If that wasn’t so, one side would be in sin. 😉 We are One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. 👍

Note the difference between oral “sex” and oral “foreplay.” Two very different things!

The Latin/Roman Church does not require divorced persons to seek an annulment to be received into the Church.

Did you mean annulment to remarry in the church?

Yes, we are Catholic. We accept the moral teachings of the Catholic Church. Why would we Eastern Catholics reject the teachings of the Church? We couldn’t be in communion with Rome if we permitted gross sin.

PS An annulment means that there was never a marriage in the first place, hence, “remarry” isn’t the correct term for the Sacrament of Marriage.

Thanks everyone - yes, in my original post, regarding annulment, I meant that in the roman church if one has been married, they must get an annulment (declaring the marriage never took place) before they can get married - I want to say “again” - but you know what I mean by that! 🙂
