I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this, if it isn’t, please forgive me.

Why does the Church teach there will be no marriage in Heaven? What’s the point of living faithfully with your spouse and raising a family together if you will not be spouses or family in Heaven? Why would God allow something like this? I know we would live with God, close to God, and the love would be immense, but why live an earthly life this way to not go to it in Heaven? Why would I want to have a husband and children on Earth if I’ll be in unity in love and spiritually married w/everyone else in Heaven? I’ve heard and read it is going to be full of ecstasy and love, but to me, that only sounds as a huge orgy - no offense. Why would I want this? I certainly do want to live in Heaven, live close to God, but I cannot see myself living without my husband or my children and I don’t even have mine yet.

The human love between spouses …

… is an image of the relationship of the three Persons in the Trinity;

… is an image of God’s love for humanity.

The “wedding of the Lamb” we read about in the Book of Revelation is the marriage of Christ to His Church. Our union with a spouse here on earth prepares us for union with God for all eternity.

We will still know and love our earthly family members when we are in heaven, in an even more perfect way than we love them now on earth, since our love will have been purified of all selfishness. The sexual aspect of our love will no longer be necessary, since we will no longer beget children in heaven, so your “huge orgy” reference is a little off target.

Our spousal love on earth is preparing us for an even better kind of love in heaven. Don’t worry, you will be perfectly happy, even if we don’t yet fully understand how that will be:

But as it is written: “What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Please check this out in the New Testament Luke 20:27-40
It has got nothing to do with your question,but it gives you clarity that in heaven we live as angels/heavenly beings.Don’t get upset,our existence on earth is completely different than in heaven.Keep your faith in God,don’t hesitate:)

God bless

I read what you mentioned from the Gospel of Luke, however, I do not think it has anything to do with lay people being married or not. To me, that passage sounds as though Jesus is speaking of those who remain celibate, ie priests.

I don’t lose faith, but it seems odd to live on Earth, marry and have children and not be with your family in Heaven. I know we’re supposed to live loving all and each other in the same way, but then, what is the point of bearing children? Wouldn’t I love my child more than someone I just met in Heaven?

From here: nasb.scripturetext.com/mark/12.htm

18 Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) came to Jesus, and began questioning Him, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that IF A MAN’S BROTHER DIES and leaves behind a wife AND LEAVES NO CHILD, HIS BROTHER SHOULD MARRY THE WIFE AND RAISE UP CHILDREN TO HIS BROTHER. 20 “There were seven brothers; and the first took a wife, and died leaving no children. 21 “The second one married her, and died leaving behind no children; and the third likewise; 22 and so all seven left no children. Last of all the woman died also. 23 “In the resurrection, when they rise again, which one’s wife will she be? For all seven had married her.” 24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God? 25 “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Because our purpose in heaven is to praise and worship God and be in His presence. That’s it. He has created us to be with Him. We have children to build His kingdom here on earth with the hopes of increasing the population of heaven at the end of times.

You will only love God in heaven - there is no greater love than that. This doesn’t mean your children will not matter to you, but God will be where your heart is.
