I have a strong catholic faith but since I was married to Baptist in CSI a Non actholic church due to many reasons .My husband visited me to marry me in my country that time My catholic church dont allow to get married during lent so My husband came for 2 weeks it was difficult to marry in catholic church as theere was less time to marry in catholic church as well as too much of running around within less time so we had to marry in protestant church as well as in court. Now we are married for almost 5 yrs and we have a child togther, I have a marriage certificate issued by court annd a non catholic church. 3 days ago I came to know that my marriage was invalid in catholic church bcoz i married outside the church. My husband is strong believer in baptist and there is no chance of marrying in catholic church again, today i came to know about mixed marriages and dispensation. we married in India, I had been baptised, confirmed in catholic church I still follow catholic tecahing even inside my house as well outside. My husband belives his faith and im continuing my faith. Im raisng our daughter in catholic faith I go to catholic church and receceve sacarments, yesterday I came to know that my marriage was invalid and I am not suppose to receive sacraments, so im very hurt Now i live in FL, USA for almost 4 years, so what can i do so that catholic church will bless our marriage and make valid without my husband coming into picture and no running around hassles.

I truely dont like to leave catholic church it hurts me badly to leave catholic church, but since catholic church dont recognises marriage and banning sacraments there is no point in continuing either.

Please help me what best I can do ? I know if I live catholic church I will never be happy or have peace of mind.

There is a process called ‘radical sanation’ where a Catholic can obtain Church recognition of their marriage even if their partner is non-Catholic or for whatever other reason will not consent to have the marriage blessed in a Catholic ceremony. If neither of you have been married before then it shouldn’t be a difficult process. It’s worth asking your priest about.

As for ‘running around and hassle’ - things that have meaning to you are worth taking trouble over! Someone who genuinely cares about their Catholic faith and their marriage will be willing to invest time and effort in order to ensure their marriage is sacramentally valid.

Talk to the priest at your parish and he will help you figure out the best thing to do in your particular situation.
