Marriage Preparation Ideas

Any creative ideas for preparing for the Sacrament in other ways? We were hoping to create children’s books together filled with moral messages (for our future kids), but aside from that I’m drawing a blank…

Hi. You’re drawing a blank because you already have many great ideas to bring you and your spouse-to-be close to yourself and God already! I like the book idea–it’s very thoughtful and shows your openness (and outright enthusiasm!) for a family.

Congratulations and blessings to you on your upcoming wedding. My wife and I are trying to enjoy the last months of our newlywed status–planning for the wedding is now quite a blur.

The book I’d recommend is a compilation of essays and segments of book about courtship, love and marriage. It was compiled by Dr. Leon Kass. He’s Jewish, but its still an amazing book and gives a lot of good content to think about.

How about interviewing your parents and grandparents (assuming you still have them) for their marriage advice? Getting their own stories down in writing to be preserved for your children would be a fun thing to do together.
