Marriage question...

Let’s say that a man and a woman want to get married, but the woman cannot have children because she is beyond childbaring age, or for some other physiological reason. Would they still be permitted to get married, and would they be permitted to have sex within the bonds of their marriage, even though conception would be physicly impossible? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I’m a new Catholic, and I’m still learning…

Yes, and they would still be bound by the teaching on the church regarding sexuality in marriage. Infertility is not an impediment to marriage.

The requirement is they have to be open to any children they are blessed to receive. It isn’t that the have to be open to any children and be able to produce.

Yes, they can get married and yes they can engage in all aspects of marriage.

Can. 1084 §3. Sterility neither prohibits nor nullifies marriage, without prejudice to the prescript of ⇒ can. 1098.

Can. 1098 A person contracts invalidly who enters into a marriage deceived by malice, perpetrated to obtain consent, concerning some quality of the other partner which by its very nature can gravely disturb the partnership of conjugal life.
