When Peter was given authority to bind and loose, does that mean that when we our “bound” or married here on Earth, we will still be married/ “bound” in Heaven? Jesus did say there are no marriages in heaven, but maybe he just meant no new marriages, but people are married there if they were married here. After all, we become one flesh.
Anyway, so if my husband was raised Catholic, but we’ve been practicing Protestants since we met, and I was baptized Mennonite where we were married, we need to get validated if I become Catholic. DOes that mean we’re not married in God’s eyes now? So like, I could get out of it if I wanted? Hypothetically of course. I’ve held on all these years because I didn’t believe in divorce since God hates it, but if he didn’t consider us married anyway, than we wouldn’t be divorced right? In which case, I wouldn’t want to go ahead w/the validation if I didn’t want to be married to him. Practically speaking though, it wouldn’t matter if the Priest says we’re not really married because in our hearts /minds we are. It would still be awful to separate because we have 2 young kids and it would be wrong so we will try to make the best of things. I just wanted feedback on the above questions. Thanks.
