After 30+ years of an overall happy marriage and as parents of successful married children, my wife is again saying that she would be better off alone than with me. I triggered this feeling by being wrongly and loudly defensive about something, from which she dredged up disagreements from years past that had no direct bearing on the immediate issue. I accepted my fault quickly but she was already in that destructive mindset and I could not reel in the discussion to the case at hand.
In similar past events, she eventually came to the point after several days that she was ready to move ahead and we would talk out our feelings to get on track. However, I never assume that will happen and never know when enough will be enough for her. She is a great wife and I do not want to lose her.
Please pray that we will find our way though this and that we will learn how to pray more effectively to maybe avoid future escalations like this. Thank you.

Prayer For Troubled Marriage

O St. Rita,

Make us understand that a vocation is not only a matter of attraction.

Enable us to see clearly that it is also a matter of finding, in ordinary events, God’s will for us and then accepting it even if it seems to be baffling and contrary to our wishes.

Teach those called to the marriage state by the Lord to reflect deeply on the delicate choice that will influence their destiny.

Let them not be deceived by their feelings; instead, let them look for the solid qualities that keep a home united in the joy of the Lord.

Teach unhappy spouses the power of patience and mildness. Let them not give way to discouragement but, like you, let them save both the happiness of their home and the soul of their spouse.

O St. Rita, we pray this Prayer for Troubled Marriage through your name and in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

***Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death
Amen.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular mc1220, and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen

St. Rita, St. Elizabeth of Portugal, and St. Catherine of Genoa, pray for us!

**Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.**

Mary, Untier of knots. Pray for us!

I run to Mary over these things. I often have foot in mouth disease when speaking to my wife. We men are pretty thick at times. Mary can and will help ease the tension between spouses if you ask her for help. God bless! Michael

(See below)

Pope Francis is well known in Argentina and Brazil for promoting devotion to Our Lady Undoer of Knots which has been a source of healing and grace for countless families. The devotion to Mary Undoer of Knots (also known as Mary Untier of Knots) is becoming more and more known in many different countries. Saint Irenaeus made a comparison between Eve and Mary, saying, “Eve, by her disobedience, tied the knot of disgrace for the human race; whereas Mary, by her obedience, undid it”.

May St. Joseph intercede for you and your marriage.

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Thank you all for your interest and contributions. Prayer works! Life goes on and we are talking as normal. I pray though, that what I have learned from this experience and your prayers, will guide us through the next disagreement more constructively. May God bless all of you.
