I’ve been married for almost five years now under a Roman Catholic. I just wanted to know as a Roman Catholic where are you suppose to wear your wedding ring? is it on your right ring finger or on your left ring finger? Why? Hope you’ll help me understand.

I wear mine on my left ring finger. Don’t know why. And I don’t think non-Catholics wear theirs differently than Catholics.

Wedding rings are a cultural thing, for the most part, nor are they necessary for the sacrament of marriage. Europeans wear them more on their right hands, whereas Americans almost always keep them on the left hand. I don’t think it’s a big deal wherever one chooses to wear it.

Contrary to what many people think, Catholics’ lives are not so micro managed down to what finger on which to wear a wedding ring. 🙂 What finger to wear a wedding ring is a matter of custom.

Greek Orthodox people usually wear their wedding ring on their right ring finger. Protestants and Latin Rite Catholics usually wear their wedding ring on their left ring finger. I wore my wedding ring on my right ring finger because that is where I preferred it.
