I was wondering what the steps are for a Catholic to marry a non-baptised Christian. I was blessed after birth by The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My girlfriend is Catholic. We have talked about getting married but we both would want the Catholic Church to recognize our marriage. I am not interested in converting, basically because I couldnt change my beliefs and wouldnt lie about it just to get married. Please if someone could help, id appricate it. Thanks

I would not recomend lying about it. She will simply need to speak with her pastor. Who will in turn after you complete the necessary Marriage preparation, ask the Bishop for a dispensation for her to Marry a non-Baptized person. She will be allowed to Marry in the Church without a Nuptual Mass because the Marriage would not be a Sacramental Marriage.

Have you asked your own pastor about this? I understand Mormons are very family oriented and many of the tenets of your faith relate to family life, and are lived out in the context of the family. I have heard other Mormons say your church frowns on mixed marriages. You should get counselling on this from your own pastor or church leadership. So should your Catholic fiance, since our church also frowns on mixed marriages, for the same reason, that it makes it hard to bring up the children to respect and obey the teachings of the religion if one parent does not live by them. There are a lot of potential problems for you down the road if you are both sincere in your faith and intend to follow the practices of your faith.

Im not mormon. I was blessed under the Reorganized Latter Day Saints (we broke away from the mormons because of different beliefs), but do not follow that religion. Im sure youve heard of Silvia Brown, I follow her teachings. I dont need to call myself anything but a Christian. I believe in the same God as everyone else does, except in my beliefs he is more loving then feared. See for us this is about our only difference, besides pizza toppings. And I wont let her being a Catholic get between us. We are too strong together.
