Chris138,

I was talking about the real World! Both my wife and I were raised Catholic, and have never left the Christian faith. We didn’t miss church very often during the 23 years, in fact my wife has worked for a Protestant church for the past 17 years. May I suggest that you focus your attention on all the fake annulments in the communion line, and leave us married couples alone.

So was Chris 138.

And you’re qualified to judge other people’s annulments? Interesting.

But anyway, congratulations on now being able to truly say that you are a married couple.

I just came out of the same situation that had lasted for over 23 years. I can tell you this much, don’t confess it or mention it to a priest until you both are ready to have your marriage convalidated. A lot if people got hurt from my wife’s Protestant church, and even put presure on her to divorce me for having our marriage blessed in church. My wife was almost ready to divorce me, but we went to a Protestant marriage workshop called, “a weekend to remember” and the Holy Spirit pulled her out of it. Truthfully, this so call Sacrament damaged our marriage. It will take us years to get back to where our relationship was while we were unworthy in the communion line.
Why would other people be “hurt” by the convalidation of your marriage, and why should it matter to you and your wife?

That is an easy one to answer: Because Protestants are knit together closer than Catholics. It’s two different worlds! For one thing, it was a betrayal for me not to honor
my origional Protestant marriage. It was a slap in the face to our many Protestants sisters and brothers who we have fellowshiped with for many-many years. My wife has been employed at that church for some 17 years now, and is active in quite a few ministries at that church, where I provide the hauling and trucking to setup for her ministry.

It’s easy to understand why one of the ministry leaders put presure on my wife to divorse me, however, my wife turned him into the senior pastor. My wife is actually a member of a Cathloic Parish with me, but she still works at the Protestsnt church. The priest who blessed our marriage (repeat our vows as a Catholic Sacrament) Okay’d my wife being part time Protestant. Those are the new ruled for the
post Vatican II church in the modern World. Women are free now!

No one has ever stated women are not free. However, if you are Catholic you are Catholic. If you are Protestant you are Protestant. Do you not realize that one of the treatises of Martin Luther was that marriage is not a Sacrament but instead something that should be handled as a matter of state. If this is something that your friends are offended by - the Church wishing to keep it a Sacrament by God - then maybe your friends are more Catholic than they know.

Well, I am pretty much talked-out on this one. I tried to give as many honest “real world” answers as possible. For those who were looking for a Catholic victory it definitely was a slap in the face for our Protestant friends. Definitely a betrayal of my origional marriage to my wife.

All and all, I think that I have been blessed by God to be back in communion and still keep my beautiful young wife. Thank you, Jesus! I pray that other reckless romantic lovers can find their way home.
