Hi,

If a husband and wife begin cuddling and kissing must it lead to sexual intercourse?
If a man continues intercourse after ejaculation, must he continue until a second ejaculation occurs?

Thanks

If the point is to arouse yourself or the other (physically in the sex organs, not merely emotionally with physical side-effects) with an intention NOT to complete the marital act, this is autoeroticism (self-abuse, masturbation, whatever you would like to call it). That is wrong, yes, and if you have the presence of mind to realize that this is what is going on then you ought to stop. Try again later.

Also, simulated sex with the intention to obtain novel pleasure is similarly wrong, even if it ends in the right place/way.

No contraception.

Don’t overuse NFP.

Condescend to your spouse’s needs when possible.

Don’t commit adultery.

That’s pretty much it. All the basic do’s and don’ts.

No to the first question.

I don’t think most men can ejaculate twice, the nerves responsible for orgasm require a time to recover.

If he is finished and his wife hasn’t then it’s probably good to bring his wife to orgasm in some other manner.

Your last advice is questionable I would think.

Well my understanding of Catholic sexual ethics is that the sexual act is licit as long as the man ends up ejaculating into the womans vagina. Now most men can do that in less than 3 minutes. Obviously the ideal is to reach orgasm together. As John Paul II writes in Love and Responsibility. But I’ve never read anything to say that it would be morally wrong for the man to satisfy his wife in another way if he ejaculated too soon. Otherwise you might have a situation where the woman remains unsatisfied for long periods if the husband has problems in this area.

Like waiting for a miracle? The idea is be open to conception, if you tire, stop, don’t ejaculate, you were at least open to conceiving and ok!

Correct, that’s the man’s act done and dusted.
Now he is on to something else - assisting his wife in masturbation.

Can you not see this may be problematic?

Perhaps the problem man could forget about himself for 3 minutes and foreplay his wife first - then run the finish line together.
That would not be problematic.

If there is a God, I have great difficulty believing that God cares.
