I don’t think it has to be that way. If you are happy to live like that, that’s great, but normal people need more varied social contact and a social network. If your family has trouble (illness, transportation issues, unemployment, whatever), who will help you have no friends, no extended family contact, no support network, no history of lending a helping hand to others in need? If your wife also has no friends and no support network, your family will be in crisis from Day 1.

If your wife also has no friends and no support network, your family will be in crisis from Day 1.
