I have not heard it was because of hormones but because of pressure. A new mother’s hormones fluctuate greatly after delivery. So, if they were basing it on hormones, it should be before delivery or a year after!
IMO, I think they should relax some of the views on it but that is left to each diocese to decide. From my view, they, pregnant before, do not seem any more at risk of getting a divorce or getting an annulment than the general catholic population.
