I love my Mom and pray she’ll accept Christ as her true savior.
How do you know she hasn’t?
Is she confessing her sins, eating the body and blood of the Lord and Saviour as He has commanded? Without which we can have no life within us?
I’m just relieved she didn’t make me go to Catholic church when I was a small child. Who knows what manner of criminal behavior could of happened to me.
Yes, who knows.
Do you realize that every servant of God who serves in the Catholic Church is now tainted with the same criminal brush that wolves in sheep’s clothing that came in? Men with criminal intention came and hid within the priesthood for the position of trust and access to families. They have harmed the Church, the families under their care, and the ability to promote the Gospel in the world. You as a Lutheran should grieve over that and not throw stones.

If a baseball coach or a boy scout leader was convicted of using their position to gain access to boys, would you hate baseball or scouts? Of course not. Do a real examination of conscience and be honest with yourself and your bias. Do not judge unjustly.

It seems par for the course. My Mother is Catholic, and in her room nothing but a picture of Mary, her praying cross, and a statuette of Mary. Not one King James Bible or picture with Jesus in it. Sniping at Catholics online because your mother is Catholic at home?

Maybe your mother doesn’t have a picture of Jesus on the wall because Jesus is in her heart?

You realize the King James Bible is just a translation don’t you? That God did not drop it out of the sky? When I read things like this I get concerned that you’ve been led to worship a particular English translation of the Bible. I’d suggest you use several translations – it is interesting to see how a word can be differently translated–and then it may make you dig deeper and develop a fuller understanding of what God is trying to communicate.

May I remind you of these words of Christ: "“you shall love your neighbor as yourself” ; “love your enemies and do good to them”; “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”; “How can you say to your brother ‘Brother, let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ when you do not see the plank in your own eye?”

I pray that you will seek the truth with an open and loving heart. That you will seek to do the will of the Father and that you will act with charity in all things.

The Peace of Christ,
Mark

First and foremost, Mary is the ever-obedient “handmaid of the Lord.” (Luke 1:38) By her own statement, Mary admitted that she was and would always be subservient to Jesus by virtue of his divinity.

There is, however, one way in which Mary is over Jesus or at least she was. When he became flesh, Jesus voluntarily placed himself under Mary’s authority when he became her son and made himself dependent on her. By reason of this mother-son relationship, as per the Commandment (Luke 18:20), Jesus owed filial honor to Mary throughout his lifetime, which, when he was a child, included filial obedience to Mary. (Luke 2:51)

What about now? As described in 1 Kings 2:19-20, when Solomon ascended to the earthly throne of the Davidic kingdom, as an expression of filial honor for his mother, Bathsheba, he enthroned her right next to himself, as later Davidic kings also enthroned their mothers, as “queen mother” (1 Kings 15:13), and Solomon promised not to refuse his mother’s requests. Are we to believe that Jesus was inferior to Solomon when it came to honoring his own mother? Or, did the risen Jesus, after ascending to his heavenly throne, similarly enthrone his mother, Mary, at the end of her earthly life, right next to himself as queen mother of his heavenly kingdom, as suggested in Revelation 12:1-17, and similarly promise not to refuse her requests? If this is the case, then in heaven Jesus has voluntarily place Mary over himself in a way by reason of his promise to not refuse her requests.

Since, as mentioned above, Mary is first and foremost the ever-faithful handmaid of the Lord, we can assume that any request she makes of Jesus in heaven is similar to the request he himself made as the ever-obedient Son of his heavenly Father at Gethsemane, “…if it be possible,… [insert request here]; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.”

Kind of makes you wonder how they manage to get things done up there as they each defer to the other. Jesus: Whatever you want, Mary, you are my mother. Mary: No, Jesus; whatever YOU want, you are my Lord and my God. Jesus: But I insist, whatever you want. Mary: No, I insist, whatever YOU want.

I read an article on the internet that the Pope will raise Mary above Jesus. Is this true:confused:
I’m sorry, but are you nuts?! Honestly, I know precisely where Boaz, Alabama is (My in-laws were from Altoona) and I realize there ain’t all that much to do up around there, but I also know that you have a decent sized Catholic Church there as well, so I cannot understand why you’d even bother to ask such a question.

You cannot supply a single authentic and authoritative Catholic document that would support this specious a-C allegation.

Show me a link to where you found that and we will see that not a word of it is true.

I don’t even know why you would post this in Sacred Scripture, when it has nothing at all to do with the Bible. It’s more an Apologetics topic.🤷

With regard to the links in your sig line, I would advise you to dump them and spend your time reading sites that are loyal to and authentically Catholic. You need to know that all that Young Earth creationism stuff has no authentic science behind it. They err because they seek to use the Bible as a science book and some have been proven to be doing all this for their own personal gain.

Ask your YEC friends about a certainKent Hovind* from Pensacola, Florida and you can read more about him at *Florida Theme Park Dinosaur Adventure Land Sells. It’s pretty shameful really.

If you want to read an authentic Catholic perspective on creation I would suggest that you invest in Chance or Purpose? Creation, Evolution and a Rational Faith by Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn with whom I have been blessed to discuss this personally through Catholic Answers Live sometime ago.
