mich2;2223689How would you respond to the argument that the sister of Mary said:There were multiple people with the same name. See my earlier posts dealing with this (1st or 2nd page), which have yet to be argued against.
There were Jews at that time also believed that there was no afterlife, or that it was okay to divorce your wife if she burnt your dinner, or that helping someone else out on the sabbath was a gross violation of Law, and yo should be killed.But this doesn’t take away the fact that the Jews, who lived during the time of Jesus, believed in this spiritual place called Abraham’s bosom.
hades =/= hellHowever, Abraham’s bosom was believed, by the jews, to be a place within Hadies (hell).
hades = afterlife.
it was ‘heaven and hell’ combined in one idea. the place of the dead.
no less impossible that proving Jesus did believe in it. And, the whole not-specifically-talking-about-it does suggest that He didn’t. Not proof, mind youI don’t see any way of escaping this, except, perhaps, to deny that such a place exists at all. However, here, one would have to prove that Jesus did not believe in such a place, and that would, in my opinion, be next to impossible to prove.
There was a lot of martyring going on for the early Christians, sadly enough.I’m not sure what you mean by this; but, yes, there are different people named James in the scriptures. There is the son of Zebbede,there is also the apostle called James the less, and then, there’s the Lord’s brother. I believe the apostle, James the less, is the Lord’s brother. According to tradition, they both were martyred in the exact same way.
However, there were brothers of Jesus named, and the brothers of Jesus were not believers by John 7. Moreso, the brothers of Jesus were outside, not within, where the disciples would have been.
