The Gospel writers did not adhere to Scripture Alone. In fact in one writing concerning the Messiah, “He shall be called a Nazarene.” from Matthew 2:23 is nowhere founded in the Torah…

How far should typology go?

The typology I gave makes perfect sense… unless you’re implying one of the following:

Mary didn’t have to be the new Ark of the Covenant because Jesus wasn’t the Lamb of God (blasphemy)

That God’s word on what is good and true practice is changing… and therefore not complete and perfect upon its first utterance (heresy).

Please, kaycee, don’ t let your hate for God’s church carry you into either of these two realms.

God provides what he wants us to know only in scripture.

So, for someone who claims to be against traditions, you sure do feel free to use traditions yourself. That statement was neither stated, nor implied in Sacred Scripture so it can only be considered a tradition of men as taught by your particular belief system whether that be your personal thoelogy, or the theology of your branch of christianity.
hmmmmm, so it’s ok for you to have traditions huh, but for the Church to have Sacred Traditions, well that goes against Scripture???

As for your previous statements against typology, I believe it was St. Augustine that said “The New Testement is hidden in the Old, and the Old Testement is revealed in the New.” Those words should be taken to heart.

Not that we know of. But then, Joseph was a righteous man, and would not do such a thing.

Was Mary ever taken captive by the phillistines for 7 months?

If one were to consider the demeaning of Mary by yourself and other protestants a form of captivity by enemies, then I guess one could say yes, she has been for centuries.

Did Joseph ever dance naked in front of Mary, like David did in front of the Ark?

I have no doubt that they worshipped together. Whether that included any sacred dance is not recorded. Are you scandalized by that, like David’s wife was?

It is possible to resist the urge to take pot shots at the sacred traditions of you brethren in Christ. The flesh avails nothing, but the Spirit is life.

I find myself curious, once again, kaycee, why you are here on this forum with all these pagans?

I also find myself amazed that you have taken unto yourself the perogative of God, that you can determine whose worship is pure and whose is vain. Wasn’t there some scripture about the log in one’s own eye? If you think the teachings about Mary that were handed down to us from the Apostles are precepts of men, then why are you cluttering up this thread? Why waste your time reading it, if you believe in advance it is wrong?

John 20:30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. God provides what he wants us to know only in scripture.

This is off topic here, kaycee, but what do you think Jesus taught His Apostles in the 40 days after His resurrection?

That phrase “that contradicts scripture” is where your house of cards collapses, because you can’t say what contradicts scripture, because you don’t know what scripture says. You only guess at what scripture says, using your own fallible intellect and your own fallible traditions of men, and therefore you guess wrong and you don’t even know it.
