Blessings on this great Feast, brothers and sisters!

What a glorious gift of God Penticost is to the Church! As we hear the first words of today’s Mass readings, we can re-live interiorly the Joy of Mary and the Apostles:
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together.
And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…
This not just an event of the past but an invitation for us to be “all in one place together” and to be “all filled with the Holy Spirit”. May the Holy Spirit, the Unifier, the Love of the Father and Son given to us, enable us to go with haste as Mary did, time and time again, to do His Will. Mary continued to grow in her fullness of Grace and so must we.

The Pope’s words can give us hope and encouragement:
Commentary of the day
Pope Francis
Apostolic Exhortation « Evangelii Gaudium / The Joy of the Gospel » § 259-261 (trad. © copyright Libreria Editrice Vaticana rev.)
« We hear them speaking in their own tongues of the mighty acts of God » (Ac 2,11)
Spirit-filled evangelizers means evangelizers fearlessly open to the working of the Holy Spirit. At Pentecost, the Spirit made the apostles go forth from themselves and turned them into heralds of God’s wondrous deeds, capable of speaking to each person in his or her own language. The Holy Spirit also grants the courage to proclaim the newness of the Gospel with boldness (parrhesía) in every time and place, even when it meets with opposition. Let us call upon him today, firmly rooted in prayer, for without prayer all our activity risks being fruitless and our message empty. Jesus wants evangelizers who proclaim the good news not only with words, but above all by a life transfigured by God’s presence…
Whenever we say that something is “spirited”, it usually refers to some interior impulse which encourages, motivates, nourishes and gives meaning to our individual and communal activity. Spirit-filled evangelization is not the same as a set of tasks dutifully carried out despite one’s own personal inclinations and wishes. How I long to find the right words to stir up enthusiasm for a new chapter of evangelization full of fervour, joy, generosity, courage, boundless love and attraction! Yet I realize that no words of encouragement will be enough unless the fire of the Holy Spirit burns in our hearts. A spirit-filled evangelization is one guided by the Holy Spirit, for he is the soul of the Church called to proclaim the Gospel… I once more invoke the Holy Spirit. I implore him to come and renew the Church, to stir and impel her to go forth boldly to evangelize all peoples.
Come Holy Spirit, kindle in us the Fire of Your Love!
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

Dear Dorothy, mountee, glendab and whoisdiss,

Thank you all for your replies. May we live now this “Ordinary time” of the Liturgical Year, with Mary in ever growing docility to the Holy Spirit. May He continue to bring us into deeper communion with the Trinity until we reach heaven and the Beatific Vision.

Dear Dorothy,

Thanks for your response. I am just about to post more on Mary our Mother during “Ordinary Time”.

As St. Bernard was inspired to say:
"De Maria numquam satis, “ Concerning Mary, never enough,”
By God’s Grace may we hear always more deeply and obey always, Jesus’ Words, “Behold Your Mother”

St. Bernard of Clairvaux is the only Marian devotee whose writings I have not read, and plan to soon.

I do remember that quote of his as I have seen it several times, “of Mary there is never enough.”

(I don’t know much about Latin.) 🙂

Dear Dorothy,

Thanks again for your reply. St. Bernard is a wonderful saint and you will be blessed in reading his writings. I recently finished reading his sermons on “The Song of Songs”.

Honestly, I believe every saint is a devotee of Mary (perhaps some more and some less but…
how could they not be devoted to her ? 🙂
