I see what you mean. So now this topic leads me to a more relevant topic - the communion of saints.

I definitely believe that we are all one body in Christ, but as to whether we can pray for the dead; I don’t see any scripture supporting this. Purgatory is also a question for me as I have never really seen any scripture supporting this. Any help with this would be greatful.

Thank you!

The problem is that people interpret what Jesus and the twelve said. Here is the problem with the statement otherwise there would only be one world church instead of hundreds of denominations.

There are two things that I am truly interested in “Love God with all your heart, mind strength, and soul” and “love your neighbour as yourself”. It’s all the rest of the formalities that bog us down.

As to following Jesus and the twelve’s teachings, I have no issue with this. It’s the room for human interpretation that drives me to seek the truth.
Regarding the problem of “denominations”, please consider my signature.

Excellent posts, Randy! But some food for thought for the OP: You keep asking for a Scriptural basis for doctrine. I will ask you a question “borrowed” from John Matrignoni and the Bible Christian Society: Where does it say in the Bible that Scripture is our sole rule of faith? I would recommend you go to www.biblechristiansociety.com and download the talk on Sola Scriptura. It is a much better expalnation than I could ever hope to put together.
