Haven’t you learned how to control people yet?! We’re not goin over there to play ball on their field - get them to come over here! Just go in to one of their discussions and tell them they’re basically nothing but a bunch of cowards holding hands while they talk like they know something. Then tell them that they wouldn’t dare say such things to on a Catholic forum because they know they aren’t speaking Truth. then tell them to prove you wrong. Then leave.

That sort of behaviour would prove only this - that Catholics are bad-mannered dorks who can’t take criticism of their religion without flaring up into a hissy fit

But if we’ve made them think, even though they may not like what we say, we’ve accomplished something. 10 years later they might finally realise just how incomplete their Protestant faith is an remember something some Catholic said on-line a few years ago. It might be the push they need to walk into a real Church for the first time. Conversion is up to the Holy Spirit. But we’ve planted the first seeds. Don’t worry, it’s untimately in God’s very capable hands.

Hmmm, I enjoyed talking there for the most part but it was difficult to make any headway in addressing concerns. I’m sure patience, charity and time (it’s been 500 years, I don’t expect them to convert in 5 minutes) will work–with the guidance of the Spirit–if not in this world, in the next.
It seems that it would have been only fair for them to come over and visit. They may yet. I will welcome them if they do.

Clearly the BIBLE says you shouldn’t be disrespectful to our mother. If they can’t see that, then I would just pray.

Seems to be a hangup about gold statues, etc.
Perhaps this is due to long-standing guilt over such things as the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII (England), the destruction of priceless gifts which had been GIVEN to various churches, chapels, monasteries and convents which were destroyed by iconoclastic Protestants, gold and silver objects melted down, precious stones looted, etc.
Perhaps they hope to minimize the above by overemphasizing the supposed “wealth” of the churches now. Wonder what they would think if they knew that John Paul II’s will showed that he left absolutely NOTHING because he didn’t OWN anything? Hardly looks like the job of Pope is some gold-studded (or Crystal-palaced) perk. . .
