No,I don’t.but I am glad your here because you are attempting to find out what we really believe and why, that sir is honorable and just:thumbsup:Yes Lisa, I’ll do my best to be nice. Again, I ask your forgiveness for my tone late last night. I was the only protestant at the “fort”, and a bit stressed due to the content and the late hour.
Do you guys know the background of the website you posted on?
Greetings Godsent.Howdy scotty!![]()

Are you serious? They FIRED him for preaching the truth about the “gay lifestyle”!He got canned for telling the truth:tsktsk: Our late Pope and current Pope has been slammed for teaching the very same thing and are labled hate mongersLisa4Cat…That is the website of a Pittsburgh PA pastor/talk show host named Marty Minto. (He’s not Catholic… and adheres to sola scriptura- and I should tell you all that I do too.)
He was fired from his job from Word FM in Pittsburgh- a Christian radio station with protestant leanings. They’ll say he was unkind to Catholic callers- and yes, he was a bit opinionated and didn’t always act like a representative of Christ. I realize you folks may be okay with someone who does share your beliefs and criticizes you, and in this sense I don’t fault you. However, he was also fired because of debating inter-Protestant problems as well, namely offending churches like the 6th Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh- who belongs to the “More Light Presbyterians” (www.mlp.org) which is an organization seeking the legitimization of gay relations within the denomination, as well as the ordination of ministers. He got in trouble last year for informing Pittsburgh (via his talk show) about the 6th Presby organzing “Gay Pride Day” at PNC park last year. It turns out- the 6th Presbyterian church represents some people with money to the WORD FM station in Pittsburgh.
He was allegedly fired for comments related to the Pope though. I heard his broadcast- and a caller called in to ask the ridiculous “Is the Pope in Heaven” question. Marty said “Except a man be born again. Was he? We don’t know his heart, or anyone’s heart for that matter.”
I would have answered that much differently, but I don’t think it merits a firing- by a Protestant station, no less.
The station fired him, then called the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese to tell them about his firing. The Diocese responded by being puzzled by the phone call and said “…but we never complained about him?” So, to many it seems that they used the excuse of his hardness against Roman Catholics as his reason for being fired, but in reality- it has more to do with his comments about the degrading spiritual condition of some of Pittsburgh’s Protestant Churches who have “gone worldly” with pro-gay, pro-abortion sentiment. They represent the money that was offended by Marty. I think the station conveniently used the sentiment of some Catholic listeners to create a good excuse to axe Marty (who was very popular). However, the truth is that Word is a Protestant station, and it was the local protestant churches he offended. They (the station.) just didn’t want to spin it that way, lest they bite the hand that feeds. That’s my read on it anyway.
The station has now gone “safe” talk. You’ll never hear any criticism of local Protestant OR Catholic churches on their talk radio slot (3 to 6pm EST) again. Its now like listening to Vacation Bible School on the radio.
So tensions are a bit high on that site due to the firing, and how many felt about him.
I am glad you are in here and not just lurking,by being here you lessen animosity and misunderstanding and we can rejoice in our Love for Christ, the word who became fleshGreetings Godsent.
Lisa- I always liked this site. I don’t agree with a very small portion of it theologically, but I think its a well-done site with an active forum.

I will pray for him…I don’t know but the scotth guy os getting mean:nope: Some of the responses that he gives are writing a novel in my sentenceIf he says somethis about gold Mary Statues, again:whacky:
Welcome. I’m glad your here. Forgive me about my stupid comment please.Greetings dbrown. That’s not the case at all. (At least for me). It seems your mail verification system doesnt get through to gmail. So, I used an alternate address and it worked.
Don’t sweat it. You are forgiven. I help teach creation apologetics (non-denominational). So I’ve been called FAR worse… usually with stunning regularity.Welcome. I’m glad your here. Forgive me about my stupid comment please.
I think it was a case of all of the above. His producer was a Catholic, and his immediate boss was a huge fan of Rick Warren’s “Purpose Driven Life” (Which Marty called "Milk & Cookies Christianity).Scott,
With all due respect, in my opinion, Marty was fired for his lack of charity toward Catholics. I listened to that program often–even called in a few times. I heard him insinuate that Catholics were Mary worshipers, that the Eucharist was cannibalism, that the church fathers were irrelevent, etc, etc, etc. He was extremely anti-Catholic, and he could not hide it. He constantly twisted Scripture interpretation to refute Catholicism. I will admit though, he did adhere to some absolute truths such as anti-abortion and no gay marriages. He also probably did offend some liberal and relativistic protestant denominations. But I do believe, when it all was said and done, it was his constant anti-Catholic rhetoric that led to his demise.
I guess we may never know what happened behind the scenes. I can’t say whether he deserved to be fired or not. I just know that I became awful disturbed sometimes after listening to what I felt were gross misrepresentations of the Catholic Church. It seemed that he would often represent the stereotypes of the Church as the truth. Interestingly enough, if you do a search with his name, many of the people coming to his defense, are the professional vitriolic anti-Catholics whom we all know, but I will not state their names because it angers the moderators on this forum. Most of the members here know who they are. That sort of tells you where he stands in regards to the Catholic Church.I
Marty annoyed, yet did some good too.
Lots of people didn’t like him. He was a very “polarizing” figure. I was annoyed by him at times too. I just wouldn’t have fired him, personally.
