Look at how She is being an excellent Mother holding her little Baby out of harm’s way. Look at how human She is by cupping His little bottom by providing Him a thrown. Look at how She is firmly and sternly looking down at the devil letting him know that Her Baby will never EVER be his. Look at how She elevates Her God and He is above Her. Look at how He is just a little Baby and not looking at anything but just being held out of harms way by His Mother. Look at all the children in the picture look at and adore and submit themselves to the Baby Jesus.

In Pittsburgh, one can buy a shirt with artwork that portrays Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Ancient civilizations had artwork that showed their king standing eye-to-eye with their primary god. Iconology of Christ from about the 6th century to the 9th century showed Him towering over believers in terms of physical height.

It’s an interesting bit of symbolic artwork, but come on…

Also, does the cherub in the top left have the symbol of pi on its stomach?

Dont be silly. Its a flaming upside down cross !!

Look again, there’s three little cherubic faces there - what your looking at is 2 eyes and a nose of a face.

Are you talking about the top left corner or the left one holding the crown?

The “cherub” on the top left is actually the Trinity. There are three faces peeking out of one body. 🙂

So if we’re all created in God’s likeness and image, why do neither I nor anyone else appear to be pixelated?😉

You do realize that being created in the image and likeness of God doesn’t mean a physical resemblance.

What’s the point?

I need to stop trying to get Protestants to try to explain themselves. It seems I see alot of complaining about the doctrines of the One True Church, but never any convincing arguments…just ALOT of misinterpreted scripture.

At least it’s Scripture though.😉

Not exactly how I picture a young Jewish woman living in Nazareth.

It also does not even square with Revelation-if that is indeed Mary. The woman in Revelation is pregnant and in pain

Do we know what God looks like?
Only Jesus took on a physical reality in His Incarnation. If you trust traditional iconography and/or the Shroud of Turin, then you have a good idea of what He looked like physical - if not, then there’s no why of knowing.

The image itself is based off of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
