Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, Sunday – we are given beautiful Words from God in the Readings for Mass to ponder – which help us in appreciating the work God has done and continues to do for us, in Jesus through Mary. Both Old and New Scriptures speak to us. Today we also listen to the Wisdom of God coming to us through Saint Louis de Montfort as we listen to the next 2 paragraphs in his treatise on “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin”. Come Holy Spirit, open the ears of our hearts to hear Your Truth, and to do the Truth we hear:
  1. God the Father willed that she should perform no miracle during her life, at least no public one, although he had given her the power to do so. God the Son willed that she should speak very little although he had imparted his wisdom to her.
Even though Mary was his faithful spouse, God the Holy Spirit willed that his apostles and evangelists should say very little about her and then only as much as was necessary to make Jesus known.
  1. Mary is the supreme masterpiece of Almighty God and he has reserved the knowledge and possession of her for himself. She is the glorious Mother of God the Son who chose to humble and conceal her during her lifetime in order to foster her humility. He called her “Woman” as if she were a stranger, although in His heart He esteemed and loved her above all men and angels. Mary is the sealed fountain and the faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit where only He may enter. She is the sanctuary and resting-place of the Blessed Trinity where God dwells in greater and more divine splendor than anywhere else in the universe, not excluding His dwelling above the cherubim and seraphim. No creature, however pure, may enter there without being specially privileged.
“O Jesus, living in Mary, come and live in Your servants, in the spirit of Your holiness, in the fullness of Your power, in the perfection of Your ways, in the truth of Your virtues, in the communion of Your mysteries. Rule over every adverse power, in Your Spirit, for the glory of the Father. Amen.” – prayer of Fr. Olier

Dear patricius,

Thanks for your “heart” which tells us you read and appreciated St. Louis de Montfort’s words in his Introduction to “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary”. I wondered if you noticed in the second Mass reading for today, the words of St. Paul in COL 3: 1-5
Brothers and sisters:
If you were raised with Christ, seek what is above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.
Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When I saw it, St. Louis’ paragraph #2 in his Introduction came into my mind – how Mary prayed to be “hidden and unknown” and
So great was her humility that she desired nothing more upon earth than to remain unknown to herself and to others, and to be known only to God.
May the Holy Spirit continue to bring us into all Truth as Jesus promised.

Thank you, MariaChristi.

I read a passage recently from The Glories of Mary by St. Alphonsus where he quotes St. Bonaventure, who says that the parable of the treasure (Jesus) hidden in the field (Mary) refers to Mary, as the field. This makes sense because the man didn’t just take the treasure, he bought the field, after selling everything else he had… Just like we can’t have Jesus without Mary.

I like the idea of hiding ourselves in Mary, in her Immaculate Heart, so that we can be hidden in God. We can’t hide ourselves in God without hiding ourselves in Mary, because while we are sinners who by nature are proud and don’t trust God–which is why we hate suffering and humiliation-- Mary is the one who is humble and trusting in God, and loves humiliation and suffering.

Mary will help us to be like her.

Here is a beautiful passage I read from St. John Eudes, regarding the delights of the love that comes from the humility of Mary’s Heart:
"Come, children, come beloved of my Heart, come, draw from the fountain of your Mother’s Heart the
heavenly wine of divine love; drink long and deep; filled with the rapture of the spirit, you need fear
no excess. ‘Drink, and be inebriated, my dearly beloved.’ (22) Drink of this pure wine, father of
virginity and of all holy virgins. ‘Wine springing forth virgins.’ (23) This heavenly wine fills the
Seraphim with delight; it inebriated the Apostles of my Divine Son; it filled the Redeemer Himself
with holy rapture when, in the excessof His love for you, He renounced the grandeurs of His divinity
and humbled Himself in the lowly crib and on the ignominious Cross. Drink with Him of this delicious
wine, that you may forget and despise what the world loves and esteems, that you may love and value
God alone, and exert yourself with all your might to establish the reign of His love and His glory in
the souls of men. Thus will you become the beloved children of His Heart and of my own.

I truly believe it. All creation God has subjected to man, the apple of His eye. All the angels minister to Him by ministering to man. & she is who we were made to be. Perfect. Pure.

& with His help we can & will be as she is, a perfect reflection of the Everlasting.

Thanks patricius,

How truly God shares His Wisdom with His saints. The parable of the treasure (Jesus) in the field and the field (being Mary) is a beautiful interpretation God gave to St. Bonaventure. Yes God sent His Son to earth and “hid” him in the womb of Mary. You are right, dear brother, we can’t have Jesus without Mary. 🙂 Also, Good Mother that she is, she helps us to be like her who listened to all Jesus said and did, pondering all in her heart. Just as she told the servants at Cana:
“Do whatever He tells you!”
St. John Eudes also writes as one who has learned from Mary to have a heart like Jesus’ Sacred Heart and like her own Immaculate Heart – seeking to establish the reign of God’s Love and His glory in the souls of our brothers and sisters who have yet to know Him. How imporatant for us to keep listening and learning to become beloved children of God and Mary! Come Holy Spirit, fill us with the Fire of Your Love! Bring us into all Truth.

Dear Justin_Mary,

Ah yes, Mary is our Mother and Model! May we daily grow closer to her that we may grow closer to Jesus and become truly pure of heart.
“Blessed are the pure in heart. for they shall see God” (Mt 5:8)

See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope based on Him makes himself pure, as He is pure. (1Jn 3: 1-3)
O Jesus living in Mary, come and Live in us! Jesus we trust in You! Mary our Mother and Model, pray for us.

Dear Katie,

How lovely our Mother and Queen is depicted here! Thanks so very much.

My Queen and My Mother, I am all yours, and all that I have is yours. Keep me, guard me as your property and possession.

Thanks dear Katie, for posting this sweet prayer card. It is another variation or translation from the prayer I had memorized from St. Louis de Montfort’s book. I’m assuming you have also Consecrated yourself already to Jesus through Mary, have you?

Ah, my dear Sister Katie,

Everything is Grace, as Little St. Therese of Lisieux wisely said. Only by His grace am I able to be our Mother’s slave and through her the slave of Jesus, and desiring like them to do the Father’s Will and share His Good News! Let us ever keep the Words of Jesus echoing in the depths of our hearts:
Behold your Mother!

Dear Susanne and Sarah,

Thank you for your “hearts” which let us know you read and appreciated the words of St. Louis de Montfort. Hopefully you will continue to be blessed by the wisdom and love for Mary, God gave to this saint.,
