Mary, Joseph and the Holy Spirit

I’m having a hard time understanding how Mary’s marriage to Joseph can be valid when she is the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Is it similar to how the Church is the bride of Christ?

Do you believe Mary is *the spouse of the Holy Spirit *in anything more than a figurative sense?

Well that is in part why I asked if it was like the Church being the bride of Christ. I felt that it was something more though, as it is one of the arguments for Mary’s perpetual virginity.

However the same article does imply that the senses are the same as the Church being the bride of Christ. However, the Church being the bride of Christ does not prevent its married members from having relations with each other, so I don’t see why Mary being the spouse of the Holy Spirit would prevent her and Joseph from having relations. However, that is a different question.
