Protestants Need to Understand Our Devotion to the Blessed Mother before they knock it! …

They refer to themselves as “Bible Christians” but they’re missing the big picture. They insult Christ by their neglect or criticism of His Mother. Do you think Christ would break His own Command to “honor your Mother”?

The Angel (which means “messenger”) addressed Mary not with his own words but with God’s: “Hail, Full of Grace”. Mary is the only one in Scripture who is addressed by a title rather than her name. That should be duly noted.

She is also called by the Catholic Church as the “Ark of the Covenant”. In the Old Testament the Ark was sacred and venerated because it held the Words of God (i.e., the Ten Commandments/the Ten Words). If that Ark was sacred and venerated, how much more so should Mary be. For nine months, she carried within her womb Jesus, the Word of God made flesh.

Even children know that the best way to insult someone is by insulting his mother. “Yo Mamma!”

I had “the Mary problem”, but the Lord, in his gracious and loving way, revealed the truth to me.

My husband is a former “church mutt” who swam the Tiber in1991.

He had a close friend from his days attending bible college who is a former Catholic married to a former Catholic. They had created a faith based on their personal prophecies that did not extend beyond themselves. No community, just themselves as church.

They came to visit us early in our marriage. They willingly attended Mass with us at our beautiful cathedral. Afterward, they were checking out the stained glass, when they stopped in front of our Pentecost window, which depicts the Blessed Mother with the apostles receiving the Holy Spirit.

“What’s she doing in the picture?”, the husband sneered. He then went on a rant about our Lady, even stupidly stating that even Jesus called her “Woman”, which he interpreted to be a slam.

My apologetics were weak at the time; however, I quietly told him that when I stood before the Throne, Jesus wouldn’t be able to say that I’d ever knocked His mama. I was holding my baby in my arms. We shared a long look.

The big dope got the message.
