Mary questions that I can't yet answer

Hi jimmy,
Yes Jesus was born of woman, but then apart apart from being fully man He was fully God. I do think there is a difference. It is something that is hard for us to understand.Mary and John are both human in all aspects. Mary must have been born of woman. Is she fully human. If so why does Jesus say John is the greatest.
How can we understand this?

“I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.” (Mt 11:11)

St.John the Baptist was the last prophet. He is a son of the first Alliance. The Virgin Mary is a girl of the New Alliance in Jesus-Christ.

Hi Sarah Jane,
I am not sure I am understanding you. Are you saying John and Mary are in different ages, first Alliance, New Alliance( I have not heard these terms before) therefore Mary has precedence over John as the greatest person born of woman.
I understood that it was John who heralded in the new age.
Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force.’
Luke 1:76-79
"And you , child will be called the prophet of the Highest, for you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
To give knowledge of salvation to His people
By the remission of their sins
through the tender mercy of our God
with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us

To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death
To guide our feet into the way of peace."

I see John and Mary in the same age, but I dont think the age one is in makes a difference.
Can you help me with your meaning if I have lost it.

As far as the “none greater” of John, I believe He is referring to the prophets. Go back a verse to Mt 11, 9 “Then why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: “Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you” Amen, I say to you, among those born of women there has been none greater than John”. I believe Jesus is saying John is first among the prophets, all of who were born of women. Mary is not a prophet, therefore both statements are true, Mary is “greater” as a saint, and John is “greater” as a prophet.

"The reference to John’s greatness occurs in a discussion of his role as a prophet (11:7-15). And the declaration of his greatness is occasioned by Jesus quoting the prophecy of the coming prophet (v. 10) who would herald the Messiah (Mal. 3:1). Jesus follows up the remark by pointing to John as the terminus of the Law and the prophets (v. 13) and as the fulfillment of the prophecy that Elijah (or one like Elijah) would come (v. 14).

This explains the sense in which John is greater than all others: He is the greatest of the pre-Christian prophets in the sense that he gets to be the herald of the Messiah himself. Indeed, some manuscripts of Luke’s Gospel give the parallel to this saying as, “I tell you, among those born of women no prophet is greater than John the Baptist” (Luke 7:28, var.). Needless to say, the class of Old Testament prophets is a set to which Mary does not belong."
