I am looking for a song that I used to hear every Christmas Eve at my church. I tried to google the few lyrics that I know, but nothing came up. Some of the lyrics are, “The angel said Mary, you’re gonna have a baby, we’re gonna call him wonderful, counselor, mighty god, and the prince of peace” Does anyone know what song I am talking about? Thanks!

You’re not thinking of Mary’s Boy Child are you?
 
Mary’s Boy Child…is that this one:

I like that song a lot, but it doesn’t seem like a song that’s appropriate for Mass. I don’t recall any words about wonderful or counsellor. For Unto Us a Child Is Born has those words, but one would probably remember that. I can remember hearing Whitney Houston and Cece Wynans (I’m not sure that’s the right last name) sing something with those words about 20 years ago on some TV show, but I can’t think of anything else offhand.

Yes thats the one. You’re probably right about being appropriate for Mass. But I could see them singing something like that before the mass starts as the congregation is gathering.
 
I may be too late, but I too was looking for the lyrics to this song. My family used to sing it for the residents of a local nursing home at a Christmas program we put on for them. So, I called my sister and together we were able to come up with what we think is the whole song. Hope this is what you are looking for.

His mother, Mary, held him close and then she smiled

I’m sure she thought of how the angel came that day

Thank you! I was looking for that song as well. Does anyone know where you can get music to it? I only know the tune of the refrain.

I was looking for it and came across your search.

The words that were given above were almost all correct!

At this time they are having a christmas sale and the song can be purchased in an mp3 file for about $1…I did that and ordered the sheet music for about the same price plus shipping.

I love the song, and will be singing it at church in a few days…
