Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today, we come closer to the end of St. Louis de Montfort’s Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin. Tomorrow, God Willing, we will begin what St. Louis de Montfort titled: “Supplement - This Devotion at Holy Communion”. In his concluding paragraphs 266 through 273, he describes how we can practice True Devotion Before, During and After Holy Communion. May God bless each of us as we Listen to God’s Wisdom coming to us in the words of His saint, who has been called a great “Champion of Our Lady”:

For Mary

1. Finally, we must do everything for Mary. Since we have given ourselves completely to her service, it is only right that we should do everything for her as if we were her personal servant and slave. This does not mean that we take her for the ultimate end of our service for Jesus alone is our ultimate end. But we take Mary for our proximate end, our mysterious intermediary and the easiest way of reaching Him.

Like every good servant and slave we must not remain idle, but, relying on her protection, we should undertake and carry out great things for our noble Queen. We must defend her privileges when they are questioned and uphold her good name when it is under attack. We must attract everyone, if possible, to her service and to this true and sound devotion. We must speak up and denounce those who distort devotion to her by outraging her Son, and at the same time we must apply ourselves to spreading this true devotion. As a reward for these little services, we should expect nothing in return save the honour of belonging to such a lovable Queen and the joy of being united through her to Jesus, her Son, by a bond that is indissoluble in time and in eternity. Glory to Jesus in Mary! Glory to Mary in Jesus! Glory to God alone!

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love. Increase in us our Baptismal Gifts of Supernatural Faith, Hope and above all, Divine Charity. Enable us through your Gifts to live truly in Jesus through Mary, for Your Glory!

From the First Reading for Mass today (1 Jn 4: 11-18)

" …if we love one another, God remains in us,
and His love is brought to perfection in us.

This is how we know that we remain in Him and He in us,
that He has given us of His Spirit…"

And from today’s Gospel (Mk 6:45-52), we hear Jesus say:

…“Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!”…

The wonderful thing is, that if we don’t know how to do one or more of these things–such as doing everything for Mary–we can simply ask Mary for help!

Whenever we are at a loss, Mary is not. She is ready to help. Like she told someone once: “call on me for help and don’t be afraid of anything” (This is quoted in “The Glories of Mary” by St. Alphonsus Liguori).

Thanks so much for your “faithful heart” and thoughtful reply. Yes, Mary is never at a loss!

Mary is – as you said – “ready to help us” for she is as God created her to be : Full of Grace and the Mother of God Who is Love. How could we be afraid of anything when we are Living in Jesus, through Mary, with Mary, in Mary, and for Mary?

The word of God tells us in the “Song of Songs”:

Who is She who comes forth, as the morning rising, fair as the moon, bright as the sun, terrible as an Army set in Battle Array? (Song of Songs 6:10)

Mary herself said at Fatima: “In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” She will triumph for she is filled with God’s Grace and desires only what He wills.
