I've never claimed to be a scholor. However, telling me that is not a personal attack.
The comment you felt personally attacked by was that it was poor “biblical scholarship”
So, if you are not a scholar, why would you be personally offended by this observation?
Code:
It's the way you communicate that's personal. And, unless I claim to be a scholar, what's the importance of saying I'm no scholar? What's you reasoning for it?
Well, I did not make the observation, but since I do agree with it, I can say that you have drawn conclusion about the scriptures and their meaning based upon personal opinion and very poor biblical scholarship.
It happens everyday.
Why do you think that Catholics would notice or be concerned when our separated brethren have drawn conclusions from poor biblical scholarship that are heretical ?
You have not shown an openness to understandings different than those of the CC. You ask of me what you will not do.
Please help me then, because I think I have some very good understandings of how my separated brethren derive their doctrines. I think studying scripture in Protestant circles and three years in a Protestatant seminary have helped me a great deal in this area.
BTW, there’s much more for you to loose than for me (if I’m correct vs if you are correct - and I’m NOT refering to salvation. You hold the teachings of the CC so high, I can’t imagine what people like you will do if one or two of those teaching are shown to be inaccurate?).
It certainly is a great act of faith to take Jesus at His Word. I have asked people ask me this before. What I have realized is that I have found the answers that make the most sense for me, and when I follow the teachings of the CC my life is happiest. If I find that I was wrong, I will be happily wrong!
Then why ask me to change my understanding unless you can do a better job of clearing up my misunderstandings.
I thought we agreed that you were not going to change your mind, and that it was not necessary to do so?
It is not appropriate for any of us here to expect you to change. The purpose of the forum is to discuss, compare, and contrast diffferences. You cannot be expected to change your mind.
you have NOT given me any reason to change my understandings to fall in line with you and the CC.
Yes, that has become quite clear.
It has also become increasingly clear that you are unable to see things from the opposing point of view, even if you choose not to adopt that view.
The highlighted part is WRONG. I don’t get hurt. I could care less.
Perhaps you can clarify why you took the scholarship comment as a “personal attack”. It seems to me that people who are “personally attacked” are hurt. If you “don’t get hurt” then you are not human.
For a person who says he “could care less” you certainly do a lot of posting here, and react strongly to the content of the posts. I propose to you that people don’t get upset over things they don’t care about. Neither do people get involved and invest time in things they don’t care about. You are responding at an average of ten posts a day. I would say that indicates a significant level of invenstment (caring).
BTW, “I don’t care” is a common response humans make when they do care, but they wish they did not, since the caring is upsetting.

I have answered most of your wrong understandings of what I've said. It gets soooooo frustrating to hear from you what I'm saying or what I believe when I KNOW that's not what I've said nor is it what I believe.
Yes, I thank you for these corrections. I know that there are times when I dont’ understand the postings. I just posted a response that contained about 5 confusions about what I read. I could not make sense out of most of the post (not yours).
However, I think what you are finding most frustrating is that I am following your assertions to their logical conclusions, and you don’t like the conclusions. For example, when you indicate that God is unable to stop the Apostles from making a mistake, it carries implications about the nature of God.
I believe that you dont’ think that God is weak, but your assertions, to be true, would require that He be too weak to act.
