Does it seem we would get to heaven (Lord Willing) and Jesus would be like “Hey, you barely ever talked to me!”?
Sorry missed that one (and feel like I’ve talked too much already 😉 )

I think that if we were to place Mary above God that could be a possibility. There may in fact be some Catholics who do. For me, if you understand Mary you would rightly go to Jesus in prayer. Even though I am very comfortable with talking to Mary, and ask her to pray with me often, I still go to the Father more often than anyone else. I find that actually studying Mary brought me comfort in speaking to her, but it made me want to have the same kind of relationship she had with God even more.

Learning about Mary didn’t make me want to pray more to her… but it drew me closer and made me want an intimate relationship with God himself. That, in my humble opinion, is what Mary is supposed to do in our faith. She isn’t supposed to replace God. She instead points to him. Her humility and submission to God’s will reminds us to do the same. Her chaste life reminds us to be devoted to God and no other God’s. Her presence in the Christ of life reminds us to make sure we also keep close to Christ throughout our life.

Sometimes the bagage we bring with us gets in the way. All we are asking is the ones who have come before us to pray for/with us. It is a both/and not a either/or. As we pray to Jesus, we also ask for Mary (or any Saint) to pray with us.

I just wanted to give a side note, Mary has been the hardest doctrine for me to accept during my studies of Catholicism.

The one book that helped me the most was “Hail Holy Queen” by Scott Hahn. It was when I realized that Mary spent more time with Jesus than anyone else in scripture.

How can we reduce that relationship to just a womb? She is so much more. She’s not God, and we Catholics know that. But she is special.
I was going to recommend the same book to Inquisitor.

Of course, the other extreme is also possible. You get to heaven and Jesus says, Why did you come daily to my house to talk to me but deliberately never greeted nor talked to my beloved mother and brothers and sisters who were always with me?

Or Jesus could also say…you talked too much…why did you not avail of help from the saints and Mary?

I will share a joke, forgot where I heard it…two christians, one a protestant, one a catholic…are in purgatory…and have satisfied their stay there…so here comes Jesus and Mary to fetch them…the catholic recognizes Mary, goes to her and converses with Mary and is sent his way. The protestant stands not knowing what to do…Jesus motions for him…and says…have you met My mother? 😃
